This candidate will come from a strong cargo background either interacting with clients directly or in a warehousing capacity, and support the company’s growing cargo logistics operations. This position can be based in Charlotte NC, Dallas TX, Norkfolk or Richmond VA, among other locations, and supports expansion efforts across the company. Position Overview The Business Area Director will report directly to the VP of Operations, QAS, and oversee air cargo operations, own and drive P&L success, team leadership, and business growth within the cargo business line. This role requires broad experience in airline and/or cargo operations—spanning customer service, maintenance, airport management, regulatory compliance, and logistic operations. While responsible for one business area, the Director will also support other QAS divisions as needed. Drive strategic change management initiatives across the business. Foster collaboration between operations, corporate teams, and sales to ensure shared success. Maintain safety, training, and security standards that meet corporate and regulatory benchmarks. Communicate effectively across internal and external stakeholders. Lead cargo logistics growth efforts, including mail services and infrastructure optimization. Develop KPIs and strategies to measure performance and meet customer needs. Identify new business opportunities, negotiate contracts, and build strong client relationships. Direct and support team leaders, managers, and front-line staff. Oversee operations of cargo and mail facilities including warehousing and transportation. Ensure full compliance with industry regulations and standards. Respond to customer inquiries and uphold exceptional service standards. Act as on-site Management under the guidance of the VP of Operations. Analyze operational metrics and address process improvements. Maintain oversight of profit and loss for assigned stations. Ensure routine customer communication is maintained including travel as needed. Required Skills and Experience Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, and P&L oversight. Bachelor’s degree in Business Management or related field an asset. 7–10 years of experience in cargo, ground, or passenger service operations. Ability to learn and manage operational systems and recordkeeping tools. Leadership experience with proven supervisory success and interpersonal skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook). Certifications/Licenses Valid driver’s license. Must be able to obtain and maintain Airport Authority and TSA security clearances, as well as Transport Canada clearance requirements.
