Job Title: Housekeeping Supervisor
Job Summary:
The Housekeeping Supervisor is responsible for planning, organizing, staffing, directing, coordinating, and managing the housekeeping and laundry departments. This includes supervising employees, overseeing equipment and supply usage, and ensuring maximum cleanliness and order throughout the facility. The Supervisor also ensures timely and high-quality laundry services for resident clothing and facility linens.
Qualifications:
High school diploma preferred; additional training in business or personnel management is a plus.
Ability to lift, push, pull, and move equipment or supplies in excess of 50 pounds.
Strong administrative, leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Professional, personable, and cooperative with residents, families, and staff.
Compassion, tolerance, and understanding for the elderly.
Job Requirements:
Must be physically and mentally capable of performing routine housekeeping and supervisory duties.
Ability to manage staff effectively, prioritize workloads, and maintain high standards of cleanliness.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:
Support and promote the facility’s mission, goals, and objectives.
Develop job descriptions, orientation checklists, and personnel policies for housekeeping and laundry staff; submit for Administrator approval.
Recruit, interview, and verify references to hire qualified staff; determine staffing needs and structure of the departments.
Schedule and supervise sufficient staff coverage to ensure uninterrupted service.
Provide orientation, training, and in-services for new and current staff.
Ensure employees understand lines of authority and administer disciplinary action as needed, with proper documentation.
Delegate responsibilities to designated staff in supervisor’s absence.
Review time clock reports for accuracy and submit for payroll processing.
Manage purchasing, inventory, and distribution of housekeeping, cleaning, and laundry supplies.
Maintain a linen inventory (minimum ratio 3:1) to ensure continuous availability.
Oversee laundry operations, including:
Proper handling of isolation linen and clothing
Washing and drying of all linens and clothing
Distribution of clean clothing to residents
Distribution of linens and towels to resident wings
Ensure proper disposal of bio-hazardous waste per regulatory requirements.
Participate in mandatory fire, disaster, and evacuation drills in compliance with IDPH and Joint Commission standards.
Lead performance improvement projects in accordance with JCAHO guidelines.
Educate and in-service other departments on safety and biohazard procedures.
