1) Must be a professional member of the staff. 2) Three years coaching experience in the WVSSAC preferred. 3) Will take the 5310 evaluation training through West Virginia Center for Professional Development within one year of accepting the position. 4) Assist the principal in the personnel evaluation process of coaches. 5) Adequate working knowledge of budgeting and management of extra curricular activities. 6) Ability to understand and interpret WVSSAC rules and regulations and monitor proper implementation. 7) Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with Administrators coaches and the community. 8) Cannot be a head coach or assistant of any major sport but may be an assistant coach of a minor sport on an interim basis. Major sports are Football, Basketball, Track, and Baseball. Minor sports are any other sport activity. 9) Must be computer literate (internet, word processing, spread sheets, etc..)
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBLITIES:
-Organization and administration of the overall athletic programs -Coordination of the operation of all athletic contests to include but not limited to a. Scheduling 1. Practices 2. Transportation of away events 3. Support personnel (ticket sellers, ticket takers, clock operators, announcers, chain crew, gate keepers, etc.) b. Contracting 1. Game officials 2. Security c. Facilities 1. Schedule routine maintenance and repairs 2. Recommend improvements 3. Arrange facilities to be properly prepared for events 4. Responsible for preparing the athletic schedule in cooperation with principal and coaching staff.
-Preparation and administration of the athletic budget and bookkeeping (in cooperation with secretarial staff) -Responsible for requisition of all athletic supplies and equipment. -Supervision of ticket sales and fund raising activities of the athletic program and the proper handling of funds. -Administration of the physical and academic requirements of eligibility for participation in each sport and verification of the eligibility of each athlete. -Assist in supervision and evaluation of all coaching staff in cooperation with school principal. -Keep school principal advised on advertising vacant coaching positions and make recommendations of hiring staff to school principal. -Supervision of all coaching staff to ensure the proper practice schedules and safety procedures are developed and maintained -Supervision to ensure all state, county, and school policies and rules are followed. -Foster good school and community relations by keeping school principal and community aware and responsive to the athletic programs. -In cooperation with school principal (and community education coordinator when appropriate) plan, coordinate and maintain the school master schedule for scheduling student activities and the use of school facilities. -Serve as school liaison to and attend booster club meetings and activities. -Meet on a regular basis with the school principal. -With cooperation with the school principal, attend and supervise home contests and events. -Attend select away contests for supervising purposes as determined by school principal. -Coordinate and disseminate information when events are canceled or postponed to athletes, coaches, opponents, transportation, officials, security, support personnel and media -Organize, administer and supervise sectional, regional and playoff contest as assigned by the WVSSAC -Administer and file all required WVSSAC paperwork. -Administer all operational procedures and duties of league membership. -Organize and coordinate all special events, physicals and banquets with cooperation from school principal and coaching staff. -Prepare rosters, schedule cards, schedule posters, athletic program, etc. -All other duties relating to the athletic programs as assigned by school principal.
