Under the general supervision of the Chief People & Culture Officer and consistent with the Christian mission of the YMCA, the Association Senior Director, Compensation & Benefits is responsible for directing and overseeing all day-to-day payroll and human resources administrative actions and processes, payroll and benefits processes and initiatives for the YMCA of Greater Charlotte. In addition, the Senior Director provides strategic leadership and direction for the organization’s total rewards programs while building and advancing data-driven insights that shape workforce and business outcomes. This role ensures competitive, equitable, and sustainable compensation and benefits offerings while leveraging people analytics to drive informed decision-making across talent, culture, and organizational effectiveness.

Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business, human resources, or related field, or equivalent experience.

10+ years of experience managing HR operations including payroll, taxes, compensation, benefits, policy, and compliance.

High level of customer service skills and expertise.

Demonstrated success working with multiple levels of leadership and exercising influence.

Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Ability to educate, motivate, and lead others.

All YMCA team members are expected to maintain a current and active status for all safety, risk, and programming certifications defined by the YMCA of Greater Charlotte.

Preferred:

Master’s degree in business administration, finance, or human resources.

Professional certifications: PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, CCP, or CEBS.

Experience and proficiency with HRIS systems.
