The Senior Scheduler provides expert oversight and management of tunnelling project schedules, serving as the primary interface between the owner’s technical teams and contractors. This role ensures schedule integrity, compliance with contract requirements, and effective communication of timeline expectations. The Senior Scheduler evaluates, validates, and monitors contractor-developed schedules while providing critical insights to support project decision-making and risk management.

You will support the Planning function in ensuring projects and tenders are effectively planned, scheduled, and monitored.
Reviewing contractor baseline schedules: Performing detailed analysis of proposed baseline schedules to ensure compliance with contract requirements
Validating schedule logic and durations: Assessing the reasonableness of activity durations, sequencing, and critical path definition
Evaluating resource loading: Ensuring appropriate allocation of resources across schedule activities
Recommending baseline acceptance or revision: Providing formal recommendations to project leadership regarding baseline schedule approval
Analyzing Critical Path Method implementation: Ensuring proper application of CPM techniques in contractor schedules
Monitoring critical path progression: Tracking changes to the critical path and near-critical activities
Evaluating float management: Assessing the allocation and consumption of float within the schedule
Reviewing schedule updates: Analyzing monthly updates for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with the approved baseline
Reviewing 3-week lookahead schedules: Validating detailed short-term planning for immediate construction activities
Analyzing 6-week lookahead schedules: Ensuring medium-term planning aligns with master schedule and addresses upcoming constraints
Coordinating constraint removal: Working with technical teams to address and remove barriers to schedule execution
Verifying production rates: Comparing actual vs. planned production rates for tunnelling activities
Facilitating schedule review meetings: Leading discussions of schedule components with specialized engineering teams
Integrating technical feedback: Incorporating engineering and construction team input into schedule evaluations
Coordinating interdisciplinary reviews: Ensuring all technical disciplines have reviewed and validated relevant schedule components
Leading contractor schedule meetings: Facilitating discussions regarding schedule performance, issues, and revisions
Communicating schedule acceptance decisions: Formally notifying contractors of schedule approval status and required modifications
Negotiating schedule revisions: Working collaboratively with contractors to address schedule deficiencies
Documenting schedule agreements: Maintaining formal records of all schedule-related communications and decisions

You’ll need to have:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
10+ years of experience in construction scheduling, with at least 5 years in tunnelling or heavy civil projects
Advanced proficiency in scheduling software (Primavera P6)
Comprehensive understanding of Critical Path Method and schedule analysis techniques
Knowledge of construction sequences
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Excellent communication and negotiation skills
Professional certification in scheduling or project management (PSP, PMI-SP, PMP) required
You’ll also have:
Membership of APM, RICS, CIOB, ICE, AACE, IRM, IEMA or equivalent demonstrable professional or personal development.
Deep property or infrastructure project management expertise.
Strong commercial and financial acumen.
Leadership and management experience of large, diverse teams.
Experience of managing relationships with key senior stakeholders.
Knowledge of how carbon and sustainability considerations will shape the outlook of the projects you are working on
The estimated salary for this position is$175,000. Starting salary may vary based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as experience, skills and qualifications.
