JOB SUMMARY The Specialty Associate Medical Director is accountable for delivering the KP Promise to every member, every time. The Specialty Associate Medical Director is expected to promote diversity and equity within the department as consistent with WPMG Board's commitment to equity and diversity. The Specialty Associate Medical Director is responsible for all the care provided within their clinic(s) or subspecialty locations. Leads the people of the local clinical team, sets expectations, promotes clinician development, and provides feedback and evaluation. The Specialty Associate Medical Director will partner closely with the KP manager (i.e. COM) to own the patient care experience in the clinic and the efficient running of the department. PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Strategic Direction : Participate in local and market initiatives within the specialty, coordinating as needed with other WPMG and KFHPWA partners. Participates in the creation and implementation of business strategies and attends relevant meetings as needed to advance tactics and strategies within respective specialty. Leadership and Teambuilding : Recruitment and onboarding of new associates and advancement for shareholder status with the assistance of WPMG Recruiting and HR. Establish a strong partnership with your dyad partner (i.e.COM) to lead the clinical team at your primary site and any responsible SOP sites. Operational Excellence & Quality : Accountable for the local delivery of care services and day to day operations for their clinic in partnership with KP dyad partner to ensure KPWA patients get the best care. Includes a focus on patient access, scheduling, and experience, as well as a focus on quality, safety, and managing clinical risk. Financial Stewardship : Manage clinic FTE and budget. Support accurate coding and on-time completion of medical records. Work with other leaders to implement strategies that reduce overall costs, improve local efficiency and productivity. Special Projects : Lead and participate in work groups, as directed by leadership, aimed at improving utilization, coordination, contracting or internalization of services. JOB SPECIFICATIONS EDUCATION REQUIRED : MD/DO or PA-C PREFERRED : MD, DO or PA-C with experience in a health care business leadership role EXPERIENCE REQUIRED : Minimum 5 years of medical practice PREFERRED : Experience in medical staff leadership position that included one or more of the following: performance management of direct reports, budget responsibility, working in and/or leading a multi-disciplinary leadership team, working in a managed care environment. LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS OR OTHER ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED : Unrestricted Washington State medical license, Credentialed by KPWA, Board Certified by ABMS or member of ACPE COMPETENCIES Management: Ability to collaborate and be influential across structures and roles. Delivery Systems: Knowledge of delivery system operations, healthcare delivery systems and trends. Business Acumen: Knowledge of business process and rapid cycle improvement and systems thinking. Decision Making: Demonstrated effective problem solving and decision-making skills. Communication: Excellent communication skills. Human Resource Skills: Demonstrated success working with medical staff. Project Management: Project management and data analytics skills.
