What You’ll Do The SEC Reporting & Technical Accounting Associate Director will be an integral and visible member of the Accounting team and will help drive the SEC reporting and technical accounting process. This position will report to the Senior Director, Controller, but will also partner extensively with the wider Accounting and Finance Group, as well as with internal and external counsels. A successful candidate is someone who has the required skills and competencies, enjoys working in a fast-paced and collaborative environment, pro-active, results-oriented, deadline-centric, analytical, strong attention to detail, excellent project management skills, and always highly motivated to deliver excellence in his/her work.
Responsibilities Responsibilities include (but not limited to):
Drive the execution of Forms 10-K/10-Q filings from drafting to filing
Draft/prepare technical accounting memos and policies
Prepare/draft Forms 10-K/10-Q and address review comments
Perform XBRL review
Review financial statements including Statement of Stockholders’ Equity and Statement of Cash Flows
Prepare/Review earnings/loss per share calculations
Review supporting schedules and documentation for SEC filings and review the financial statement tie-out
Prepare/Review quarterly and annual disclosure checklists
Plan for filings such as preparing the reporting calendar and coordinating with relevant stakeholders
Liaise with the external auditors on review and audit requirements. Address review comments, as necessary
Prepare earnings release tables and narratives
Review contracts and perform technical research, as needed
Evaluate transactions for appropriate U.S. GAAP accounting treatment, including presenting disclosure recommendations
Implement and monitor new significant accounting pronouncements
Assist the Controller and other members of the accounting team on ad hoc projects, as needed
Liaise and coordinate with other teams (e.g., internal and external legal counsels, FP&A) on various matters such as tracking of minutes of meetings, forecasts, etc.
Knowledge of SOX requirements and compliance — ensure control procedures are executed and workpaper documentations are SOX compliant in accordance with the Company best practice documentations; review and update control process flows and narratives; prepare all required data and analysis to support external audit, internal control and SOX testing requests, among others

Where You’ll Work This is a hybrid role and requires in-office collaboration 2-3x per week in our San Francisco, CA office.
Who You Are BA/BS degree in accounting — CPA is required
7+ years of progressive experience of combined accounting/audit experience (Biotech industry, preferred)/public accounting (Big 4, preferred). SEC reporting experience required
In-depth understanding of financial statements, US GAAP, SEC Reporting requirements and SOX
Technical accounting experience (e.g., ASC 815, ASC 606, ASC 808, ASC810 (consolidation and noncontrolling interest accounting), cash flows preparation, lease accounting, convertible debt, long-lived asset impairment, among others)
Excellent communication and written skills and the ability to partner with cross functional teams Proficiency in MS Excel and MS Word
Experience in DFIN ActiveDisclosure /Workiva is preferred
Experience in SAP beneficial
