Overview Associate Director of Sales at Columbia Hospitality. Base pay range: $80,000/yr - $85,000/yr. The actual pay will be based on skills and experience. Base pay range $80,000.00/yr - $85,000.00/yr What you’ll do Department Overview: Collaborate annually on internal prework, group strategic plans, and departmental revenue and expense budgets, aligning with the General Manager and Director of Sales to achieve property goals. Assist in creating departmental objectives, deployment strategies, production goals, and individual performance targets. Proactive selling efforts on an individual basis and in support of the sales team to achieve activity and revenue goals. Focus on business travel market growth, support of the group segment and overall sales production. Lead promotional trade shows and offsite industry events on behalf of the team. Conduct industry research and property data analysis to forecast future business volume. Demonstrate proficiency in contractual language and agreements; ensure adherence to accounting standards (deposits, direct billing, pre-payments). Provide weekly updates in the absence of the Director on prospecting, inquiries, and activities. Report monthly achievements with financial accuracy across P&L, sales and event platforms, and deposits/accounts receivable when designated. Uphold departmental standards and implement management systems, including administration of sales and event platforms. Support sales initiatives, including outreach, negotiations, contract reviews, planning, and service delivery. Actively participate in industry associations and develop positive interdepartmental relationships. Participate in training and mentoring to develop departmental competency and growth. Training and mentoring Mentor, coach, and train departmental team members to ensure competency in relevant areas. Collaborate to create a monthly training program for the department. Provide constructive feedback and, when necessary, implement corrective actions respectfully. Individual responsibilities Achieve departmental goals and contribute to revenue growth across assigned segments. Engage in client relationship building, including new business development and networking. Meet prospecting and sales activity targets. Respond to incoming RFPs within 24 hours. Negotiate with clients and understand contractual language; forecast revenue; maintain positive stakeholder relationships. Adhere to Columbia Hospitality policies and procedures. Additional job functions may be assigned based on business needs as determined by the General Manager and Seattle Support Center Leadership. Key requirements Minimum of 4-6 years of hospitality sales experience or equivalent. Extensive knowledge in sales and/or event management with strong negotiation skills. Strong leadership, critical thinking, and accountability abilities. Ability to identify customer needs and take initiative to address issues. Working knowledge of applicable laws, codes, and regulations. Excellent written and verbal communication, including contracts, reports, and operations manuals. Creative thinker with strong problem-solving and organizational skills. Strong interpersonal communication and relationship-building abilities. Analytical mindset with ability to analyze data, identify trends, and drive decisions. Technical proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Teams, OneNote, Excel) and familiarity with hospitality sales platforms is a plus. Ability to travel (air, car, overnight stays, client entertainment). Note: Don’t meet every requirement?
