Overview
TITLE: Associate Director of Operations for Professional & Technical Education and Applied Sciences
SALARY: $75,360 – 75, 360
DEPARTMENT: Professional & Technical Education and Applied Sciences
REPORTS TO: Executive Dean of Professional & Technical Education and Applied Sciences
This position supports daily operations for the Professional & Technical Education and Applied Sciences division, overseeing academic programs across multiple sites, including Precision Machining, Mechatronics, Welding and Fabrication, Engineering Technology, Aviation/Avionics, Cosmetology, Information Technology, Engineering, and Public Safety. This role supervises all Instruction and Classroom Support Technicians, maintains compliance with safety standards, and collaborates with program staff to ensure operational excellence and equipment readiness.
Duties & Responsibilities
Operations Management
Work with Associate Deans, program staff, and faculty to determine operational and training needs for assigned program areas and communicate requirements to Executive Dean
Collaborate with Associate Deans to ensure staffing schedules reflect instructional and student needs with adequate coverage during peak periods
Develop and maintain comprehensive equipment inventories for all assigned areas, ensuring manuals and training guides are properly filed
Create and improve systems for tracking maintenance requests and managing equipment lifecycle.
Equipment and Maintenance Oversight
Develop and maintain schedules and logs for routine and preventative maintenance of machines and equipment
Ensure maintenance records are stored appropriately and accessible
Create safety inspection checklists and logs for each piece of equipment
Coordinate with Associate Deans to develop replacement schedules for all machines and equipment in assigned areas.
Safety and Compliance Management
Monitor, maintain, and improve localized Accident Prevention Plans (APPs) and contribute to Campus Safety initiatives
Coordinate daily/weekly safety inspections, monthly safety audits, and annual site surveys by external third-party reviewers
Plan and coordinate &/or deliver training sessions to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations and program accreditation requirements
Facilitate Professional & Technical Education and Applied Sciences safety meetings and provide appropriate templates and forms
Supervision and Staff Development
Supervise all Instruction and Classroom Support Technicians across all sites within Professional & Technical Education and Applied Sciences
Ensure new employees receive appropriate safety onboarding and training using maintained orientation checklists
Serve as liaison between programs and Campus Safety for the Building Captains program
General Duties
Support departmental operations through cross-functional collaboration and strategic planning initiatives
Perform other duties as assigned to support departmental operations and meet the needs of the campus, including special projects and emergency response coordination
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (or equivalent experience)
Three years of work experience in operations and/or education
Three or more years of experience supervising a team of employees
Required Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Understanding of safety protocols and accident prevention in educational and industrial settings
Knowledge of equipment maintenance, inventory management, and operational systems
Ability to work effectively with diverse teams and populations
Proficiency with Google and Microsoft Office products, including database management platforms
Strong interpersonal, teamwork, and conflict management skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities
Preferred
Master’s degree in related field
Experience managing Accident Prevention Plans (APP) and working with program/divisional safety committees
Experience within manufacturing, mechanical, and/or learning environments
Current certification in OSHA/WISHA, First Aid, and CPR

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Full-time position, Monday through Friday, twelve (12) months per year.
FLSA Exempt employee with a year-to-year contract.
Position is subject to Everett Community College policies and procedures.
Performance will be evaluated annually.
