Alumni and Stakeholder Engagement (ASE), working in a collaborative partnership with the UW Alumni Association (UWAA), fulfills its mission to advance higher education in Washington and support the UW through impactful, broad-based engagement with alumni, students, retirees, and friends of the University. Alumni & Stakeholder Engagement has an exciting opening for an Associate Director of Membership. This is a full-time, permanent position. The Associate Director of Membership drives the growth and development of UWAA's membership program through strategic acquisition and retention campaigns, engaging events and activities, and program operations and administration. This role shares responsibility for delivering excellent member experiences and specializes in converting these experiences into additional revenue to support ASE activities and programs. In collaboration with the Director of Membership, the Associate Director also seeks to increase revenue generated through the UWAA membership program. What You Will Do Program, Event, and Campaign Development and Management (50%) Partner with ASE Events and Marketing and Communications to produce and innovate on member-exclusive and member-enhanced events and programs. Collaborate across campus with colleagues to meet shared membership and business objectives, working closely on all aspects of program planning, execution, and evaluation. Develop and execute strategies to improve member satisfaction, using survey data and field research to identify and develop compelling new member event programs. Create, track, and manage all member budgets associated with the programmatic and stewardship elements of members. Collaborate with the Director of Membership and UWAA marketing communications team on member acquisition and retention through annual campaigns, on-site at events, and other opportunities. Create and manage the budgets for the stewardship and engagement of the membership program with final approval from the Director of Membership. Member Benefits Program, Customer Service, and Processing Management (25%) Direct the UWAA membership benefits program, including negotiating with merchants and vendors to offer compelling benefits. Manage benefits marketing efforts and collateral production in collaboration with the ASE Marketing and Communications team. Develop and administer benefits partner agreements and manage benefits partner relationships. Provide exceptional customer service for members with complicated inquiries and support membership fulfillment as needed. Leadership and Management (20%) Supervise one FTE Membership Program Coordinator dedicated to membership fulfillment, reporting, and customer service. Hire and supervise work-study students and one part-time Membership Program Coordinator as appropriate for membership needs. Set long-term plans around membership stewardship and processing fulfillment in conjunction with the Director of Membership. Other Duties (5%) Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree AND at least three years of experience in institutional advancement (alumni relations, marketing, communications, or philanthropy). Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration. What You Bring: Experience working at a membership-based organization, higher education, non-profit, and/or the public sector. Demonstrated computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office suite for correspondence, reports, spreadsheets, databases, forms, etc. Ability to lift 20 pounds regularly and up to 40 pounds occasionally for event setup and tear down. Ability to travel out-of-state up to five times per year for events scheduled on evenings and weekends. What You Can Expect: You will work with an inclusive team that values diversity and belonging.
