Harlem Hospital Center has been a bedrock of the Harlem community since 1887. The hospital provides a wide range of medical, surgical, diagnostic, therapeutic and family support services to the residents of Central Harlem, West Harlem, Washington Heights and Inwood. Work Shifts 9:00 A.M – 5:00 P.M Duties & Responsibilities Under direction, develops, plans, coordinates and monitors professional and medical aspects related to the delivery of health care services and ensures the maintenance and attainment of quality care, as required under federal, state and local legislation. In collaboration with appropriate leadership, formulates and evaluates programs and projects of the Office and supervises the functional programming activities directed toward accomplishing departmental objectives. Examples of Typical Tasks: 1. Formulates and develops methods and procedures for monitoring, evaluating, implementing and operating health care programs and services in assigned areas of responsibility to ensure attainment of quality care and to meet mandated legislative and administrative standards. 2. Monitors and coordinates the review processes of assigned health care programs to determine if programs are meeting the health care needs, objectives and goals established by the Department. 3. Coordinates functional activities of a Department and maintains liaison with internal and external sources. 4. Reviews experimental models and design for health care delivery systems to ensure delivery of quality care standards. 5. Provides guidance to health care settings for establishment and maintenance of utilization review, quality assurance and discharge planning programs, which comply with state, federal and The Joint Commission requirements and counsels to resolve operational issues. 6. Reviews city, state and federal regulations relating to compliance and advises personnel on compliance improvement for health care programs. 7. Designs and/or reviews performance audits and makes recommendations to improve effectiveness and assess quality standards of health care delivery. 8. Provides advisory and consultative services to System, health care settings and their staff, as needed, on matters affecting health care programs, standards, and services. 9. Advises Director and/or other appropriate leadership on policy and procedural changes, utilization and development of staff, implementation of productivity goals, and makes recommendations for improvements in the design of assigned health care programs. 10. Participates in meetings, may plan conferences, seminars with health care groups, medical and professional health care organizations and health care setting medical authorities related to special medical programs, health care standards and practices. 11. Supervises staff assigned to departmental activities or units and provides professional and administrative direction. Minimum Qualifications 1. Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in Hospital, Health, Public or Business Administration, Healthcare Management, Public Health or a related discipline; and four (4) years of full-time, paid progressively responsible experience in hospital administration with an emphasis on the development and evaluation of health care delivery services; or 2. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in disciplines, as listed in #1 above; and five (5) years of full-time, paid experience, as described in #1 above. Department Preferences The Injury Prevention & Trauma Outreach Coordinator, under the direction of the Trauma Program Manager and Trauma Medical Director, leads the trauma center efforts to develop and maintain an organized, interdisciplinary public health approach to injury prevention, community outreach, and education. The responsibilities include but are not limited to developing, implementing, participating in, and evaluating the Injury Prevention and Trauma Outreach Program for both the adult and pediatric trauma programs. ••Utilizes trauma registry data to develop and direct injury prevention education to the community, while recognizing population-specific needs ••Develops activities based on frequency and seriousness of events, substantial effect on society, proven efficacy and age appropriateness, and adequate resources to implement the strategies ••Fosters and leverages partnerships with other trauma centers, pre-hospital organizations, public health and violence prevention organizations, law enforcement agencies, schools, churches, and others interested and involved in community injury prevention efforts ••Provides technical assistance and support in training staff and community leaders to lead educational injury prevention programs in hospital and community ••Establishes criteria to monitor effectiveness of injury prevention programs ••Provides the Trauma Program Systems Committee, Trauma PIPS Committee and the Pediatric Trauma Systems Committee with reports and program statuses ••Maintains relationships with local, state, regional, and national trauma program leaders to promote individual programs effectively ••Remains knowledgeable on injury prevention legislative activities ••Provides trauma-related educational programs to ED, ICU, and Med-Surg nursing ••Assists with alcohol/substance abuse SBIRT (Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment) for all admitted trauma patients ••Reports SBIRT/Acute Stress Disorder statistics to the Trauma Systems Committee ••Collaborates with the public and professional community to coordinate trauma outreach educational events and projects to help improve the safety of adults and children ••Disseminates information about the trauma program and trauma systems through public awareness/educational programs, newsletters, websites and participates in local, regional, state and national trauma events and meetings consistent with the requirements of a Level I American College of Surgeons (ACS) Trauma Center ••Identifies, pursues, and obtains sources of program support and/or grant funding ••Assists with the American College of Surgeons (ACS) site survey preparation for both the adult and pediatric programs ••Performs all other related tasks as defined by the Trauma Program Manager and Trauma Medical Director Benefits NYC Health and Hospitals offers a competitive benefits package that includes: •    Comprehensive Health Benefits for employees hired to work 20+ hrs. per week •    Retirement Savings and Pension Plans •    Paid Holidays and Vacation in accordance with employees Collectively bargained contracts •    Loan Forgiveness Programs for eligible employees •    College tuition discounts and professional development opportunities •    College Savings Program •    Union Benefits for eligible titles •    Multiple employee discounts programs •    Commuter Benefits Programs
