Overview
As an integral part of the Hot Springs Village leadership team, this position manages the technical agronomy programming for all courses, directly supervising course superintendents and providing support for their specific agronomy programs, plans, financial metrics, staff, and operational standards. Implements sound agronomic programs most appropriate for Arkansas weather/climate conditions and course type, while working within HSV fiscal parameters and directives.
Experience Required
Experience leading, developing, training, overseeing, and motivating a team.
Knowledge and experience in golf course maintenance of greens, tees, fairways, and roughs.
Knowledge and experience in landscaping, plants, shrubs and trees.
Understanding of pest control products and their applications.
Understanding of turf chemical and fertilizer products and their applications.
Knowledge of irrigation systems, drainage installation, repair, and maintenance.
Understanding of the game of golf and the impact agronomic decisions have on playability.
Have a current state applicator’s license or the ability to acquire a license.
A bachelor's or associate degree in turf grass management is preferred. Related certificates, training and experience is required.
Essential Responsibilities
Recruits, interviews, and hires capable individuals.
Leads, manages, trains, coaches, motivates, and assists the team in providing exceptional course conditions and aesthetic surroundings.
Develops the agronomical plan for the course and leads and assists in the implementation.
Oversees and assists in the daily, monthly, and annual care and maintenance of the golf course turf, bunkers, club grounds, ornamental plants, shrubs, and trees.
Develops annual operating budget, monitors performance and expenses, identifies areas of concern and variances, provides explanations and recommendations, and makes adjustments.
Oversees and controls expenses, including payroll, supplies, chemicals, and fertilizers.
Oversees the leasing, purchasing, maintenance, and repair of all maintenance equipment.
