Job Duties:
Administers the recreation program budgets, provides logistical oversight, leads personnel management, and guides programmatic direction for multiple comprehensive recreation departments, programs, and facilities to achieve institutional recreation and wellness goals.
Key Job Responsibilities:
Exercises supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 full-time equivalent (FTE) employees.
Develops and implements risk management and safety plans.
Identifies, proposes, and implements new or revised unit operational policies, procedures, and initiatives.
Plans and directs staff implementation of unit initiatives and programs, and facilities in alignment with the strategic plan.
Creates and monitors the unit budget and approves unit expenditures.
Evaluates existing strategy and makes recommendations to unit leadership for program enhancement.

Reports To: Director of Campus Recreation
Full-time: 100% appointment, Academic Staff, Ongoing, 12-month, one vacancy
Additional duties specific to the position: Provide leadership and oversight of facility scheduling, staffing, and operations of the Marcovich Wellness Center (MWC) and Superior Choice Credit Union Stadium (SCCU) for daily activities and special events.
Directly recruit, hire, train, supervise, mentor, and evaluate 35+ student employees with a focus on student learning outcomes, on-going development, and NACE competencies.
Serve as the secondary administrator of Fusion scheduling software for the department.
Develop, implement, and monitor usage policies for safety, guidelines for appropriate use, and quality customer experience.
Oversee and coordinate Facility Management work order assignments and completions for preventative and responsive maintenance needs using the Ameresco Asset Planner.
Manage the MWC fitness equipment replacement plan and schedule all preventative maintenance plans for maintaining and repairing fitness/strength equipment.
Serve as the building liaison and point of contact for contracted custodial services of the MWC for all daily cleaning, small project work, event set up/clean up, and weekly schedules.
Review, implement, and evaluate facilities standard operating procedures, policies, and safety plans; participate and comply with all scheduled emergency preparedness drills and events.
Maintain annual compliance with Douglas County Health Department for inspection of concessions stand(s).
Maintain accurate food/beverage and restaurant supply inventory, point of sale system, and student staff training and scheduling of Level III Low Complexity Restaurant - Concessions operations for all needs within the department.
Support University Program Associate with all cash handling procedural training and daily operation reconciliation.
Support Director with annual budget development, seg fee allocation, and purchase equipment funded by the MWC Fitness Equipment account.
Manage and administer all social media, website, and visual marketing for the Campus Recreation Department including all specific unit marketing efforts.
Collaborate with the University Relations team to create and maintain quality student and member communications relating to the building hours and all external messaging.
Foster a welcoming environment, treating all students and members of the campus community with respect, dignity and fairness.
Maintain accurate participation records and conduct annual assessments of user satisfaction.
Participate in all Student Affairs divisional staff meetings, complete required campus training(s), and professional development opportunities.
Other Duties: Complete required trainings and professional development as assigned.

Knowledge and experience in supervision and development of student staff

Ability to drive a vehicle for the purpose of conducting university business and meet the criteria for operation of state-owned-vehicles - Policy 615
Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
Experience supervising a minimum of ten individuals
Two years' experience with recreation/athletic facility operations
Valid driver's license
This position is currently ineligible for H1-B sponsorship. A qualification for this position includes independent eligibility to work within the United States upon hire date.
Desirable Qualifications: Master's degree from an accredited institution in Recreation or Leisure Services Management, Student Affairs, or related field.
Experience with Fusion Software scheduling program
Professional experience in higher education student employee supervision
Experience managing fitness/wellness or athletic facilities
Experience in food service and/or concession stand operations
Current Adult AED/First Aid/CPR certification and/or instructor certification
Compensation & Benefits: Salary range for this position is: $62,000 - $67,000 annually. This position offers a comprehensive benefits package, including generous paid time off, competitively priced health/dental/vision/life insurance, tax-advantaged savings accounts, and participation in the nationally recognized Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS) pension fund.
