Purpose Scientific and Clinical Experts (SEs/CEs) are individuals with deep expertise in a therapeutic area who require in-depth scientific information to treat patients, design and implement research, and educate colleagues and students. The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) program supports these needs through a field-based group with knowledge about specific disease states, Lilly and competitive landscapes, and related scientific information. MSLs facilitate scientific exchange between industry and the clinical community, informing Lilly’s strategic direction for research, development, and commercialization. This MSL position will be responsible for interactions with SEs and CEs primarily in Nevada and Utah. Responsibilities Scientific & Clinical Knowledge An MSL provides leading researchers and practitioners with scientific and clinical knowledge that addresses their needs, synthesizing the latest research on products, disease states, and standard of care for specific indications and therapeutic areas. The role requires ongoing learning to maintain high-level expertise within a given therapeutic area and to respond to diverse medical information requests while remaining a trusted, unbiased resource. Full Spectrum SE/CE Support MSLs act as primary interfaces between Lilly Medical and SEs/CEs to deliver a positive experience, support HCPs in sharing evidence, and address clinical care gaps for improved patient outcomes. They connect SEs/CEs with Lilly resources and internal partners and facilitate collaborative research opportunities. MS ls partner with clinical development to support studies and investigators to accelerate the pipeline and evidence generation by delivering disease-state and other scientific information aligned with site identification, selection, and recruitment. Field Execution, Geo Management and Productivity MSLs analyze customer data, plan, and engage assigned SEs/CEs through a mix of face-to-face and virtual engagement. They implement a strategic territory plan, leverage analytics and tools, and are accountable for meeting performance expectations. They collaborate across Lilly field roles to create a coordinated customer experience and use territory analytics for customer identification and routing prioritization. Strategic Vision and Leadership MSLs synthesize and communicate actionable insights to internal Lilly Medical and cross-functional teams. They use good judgement, escalate issues when appropriate, cultivate internal networks, and collaborate across functions, including with other field-based colleagues. They adapt to change and use innovative resources to meet evolving business needs. MS ls work collaboratively with peers and contribute to team goals, executing the role compliantly and in accordance with governing requirements, procedures, and laws. Minimum Qualification Requirements Scientific/Clinical Acumen: Advanced degree in health sciences (e.g., PharmD, MD, PhD) with 2–3 years of relevant clinical or therapeutic area experience, or Masters or bachelor's degree in health sciences (e.g., BSN, RPh, PA, NP) with 5+ years of clinical, research, or industry experience in a relevant therapeutic area. Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Lilly will not provide work authorization or visa sponsorship for this role. Valid U.S. driver's license and acceptable driving record. Preferences: Interpersonal, Presentation, Planning, and Digital Skills: Advanced presentation and computer skills with expertise in literature identification and servicing customer needs for complex information. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Self-directed with the ability to manage multiple priorities in the field. Strong teamwork, high emotional intelligence, and relationship-building skills. Resiliency in managing complex challenges and intellectual curiosity in science/medicine. Ability to leverage field-based tools and adapt to new technology to support engagement planning and communication. Learning agility to communicate large amounts of complex scientific content clearly and concisely. Demonstrated strategic and critical thinking to analyze information and interpret its relevance to future states. Location Requirements: Geography includes Nevada, Utah, and Idaho; preference for Las Vegas, NV or Salt Lake City, UT. Must live near a transport hub (airport/train station). Field-based position with travel up to 80%, including weekend commitments. Other Information / Additional Preferences: Experience in a field-based working environment is valued. Familiarity with health systems, academic communities, medical research, and medical education is preferred. Knowledge of digital platforms to engage HCPs virtually (e.g., Zoom) and willingness to leverage field-based tools. Experience in cardiometabolic health (cardiovascular disease, diabetes, obesity) strongly preferred. Learn more about all groups. Actual compensation will depend on education, experience, skills, and location. The anticipated wage for this position is $145,500 - $213,400. Full-time employees are eligible for a company bonus based on company and individual performance.
