The Associate Director, HS drives the implementation and enhancement of FUJIFILM Diosynth Biotechnologies world-class Environment, Health, Safety and Sustainability (HS) programs. Job Description
What Youll Do
Spearheads the development, execution, and continuous improvement of HS and Sustainability programs, making sure they align with global best practices and reflect our commitment to world-class standards.
Champions initiatives that elevate employee welfare, including comprehensive safety training and awareness campaigns that empower individuals to take ownership of their health and safety.
Leads efforts to maintain adherence to local and international safety regulations, leveraging a proactive approach to identifying risks and mitigating them effectively
Works closely with various departments to integrate HS priorities into daily operations, ensuring a unified and collaborative effort towards achieving our safety goals.
Implements thorough risk assessment practices, developing action plans that not only address potential hazards but also enhance overall workplace safety.
Establishes robust metrics to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of HS programs, continuously seeking areas for improvement and innovation.
Represents company and collaborate with key internal and external stakeholders including regulators, insurance carriers and corporate auditors.
Manages and develops direct reports from HS team
Administers company policies such as time off, shift work, and inclement weather that directly impact employees
Completes required administrative tasks (e.g., timecard approvals, time off approvals, expense reports etc.)
Coaches and guides direct reports to foster professional development
Participates in the recruitment process and retention strategies to attract and retain talent, as needed
Addresses performance gaps, employee questions and concerns, and partners with HR as needed for resolution
Oversight of waste management program requirements including compliance to federal (RCRA), state and local requirements
Performs other duties, as assigned

Basic Requirements / Certificates
Associates degree in occupational, Industrial Health, Environmental, Industrial Hygiene, Public Health, Engineering, or related field with 13+ years of experience of experience in a pharmaceutical or manufacturing environment OR
Bachelors degree in occupational, Industrial Health, Environmental, Industrial Hygiene, Public Health, Engineering, or related field with 11+ years of experience of experience in a pharmaceutical or manufacturing environment; OR
Masters degree in occupational, Industrial Health, Environmental, Industrial Hygiene, Public Health, Engineering, or related field with 9+ years of experience in a pharmaceutical or manufacturing environment.
Prior leadership experience and proven ability to lead the teams.
Experience working proficiently with applicable codes & standards
Experience with EHS and/or Sustainability regulations within the pharmaceutical or other highly regulated industry
Experience and proficiency in biosafety practices, management of potent compounds, and executing risk assessments for new product introductions.
Experience and competence in analyzing and understanding Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) and other relevant design documentation.

8+ years of people management/ leadership experience
NIMS 400 (Incident Command)
Associate Safety Professional (ASP) certification
Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM)
Manager of Environmental, Safety and Health (MESH) certification
