Position Summary
Bristol Myers Squibb (BMS) is driven by its vision to transform patients’ lives through science. The Global Product Development and Supply (GPS) division plays a crucial role in advancing this vision. GPS is responsible for developing, manufacturing, and supplying quality clinical and commercial medicines to patients worldwide. This role is part of the BI&T team supporting GPS and will report to the Director of Analytical Engineering.
This leadership role oversees a small team focused on developing and operationalizing a comprehensive data information model that can be leveraged for downstream GPS use cases, such as effective AI deployment and high-quality self-service analytics. The Associate Director will be responsible for leading the team in strategizing, building, and operationalizing information models, working in close partnership with other leaders and stakeholders. This role requires a visionary leader who can shape strategy, manage a team of technologists, deliver impactful technology solutions, and foster collaboration across teams.

Roles and Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Development
Define information model goals in partnership with stakeholders and leadership. Cascade goals appropriately, monitor progress, and adjust strategy as needed.
Lead the Information Model Development team with a visionary approach, taking full accountability for delivering cutting-edge information models that drive impactful technological solutions.
Provide regular updates on technical progress to stakeholders and leaders.
Manage a high-performing team:Direct management of technology professionals.Matrix leadership of other technology professionals from various teams.Indirectly manage and influence other technology professionals, ensuring delivery of information model work in a manner that links well with other strategic projects.
Lead planning, diversity efforts, and colleague development initiatives to ensure high employee engagement and sustain a robust talent pipeline.
Technology Strategy & Innovation
Develop, manage, and deliver a forward-thinking technology roadmap for information model development that leverages emerging technologies and innovative solutions to deliver compelling value.
Lead the development of semantic models and data ontologies that provide an overall GPS information model that provides an optimal AI deployment environment.
Ensure adherence to technical best practices in SDLC and analytics output, including scalable solutions, code version control, documentation standards, and deployment.
Evaluate new technologies and proactively recommend impactful innovations with high ROI for inclusion on the overall technology roadmap.
Actively partner with stakeholders to ensure “art of the possible” is central to the team’s strategy and roadmap.
Stakeholder Collaboration & Engagement
Cultivate strong relationships with business stakeholders, teams, and cross-functional colleagues across global locations, fostering a collaborative environment that drives visionary data model solutions.
Enterprise mindset: Actively seek out ways to partner with other teams and leverage existing technologies and solutions in the most effective way for information model development.
Ruthless prioritization: Work closely with leadership to define data model priorities and deliver the most impactful solutions aligned with business objectives.
Requirements
Professional Experience
10+ years of progressive experience in Information Technology, data analytics, or related industries, with a proven track record of leadership and innovation.
5+ years in a leadership role managing teams and/or delivering complex IT or analytics programs.
1+ year experience working on information model relevant workflows and/or tools: semantic model development, data ontologies, application of graph databases
Hands-on experience with SDLC methodologies, including DevOps, Agile, and Waterfall, ideally in regulated environments.
Proven track record of managing complex projects, including resource allocation.
Technical Expertise
Experience with designing, implementing and managing graph model(s) and ideally applications related to information modeling.
Experience with graph databases (e.g., Neo4j, Neptune), including design and querying.
Experience with AI systems that utilize Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) and vector databases for effective information retrieval.
Significant experience with programming languages relevant to managing data and information models (e.g. Python, Java, Scala).
Experience with cloud environments and services, preferably AWS.
Experience with DevOps principles for CI/CD.
Proficiency with a modern suite of analytics tools and technologies, potentially including GitHub, SQL, R, dbt, Domino, Tableau, etc.
Experience deploying AI models is highly desirable.
Experience with systems using the Model Context Protocol (MCP) to interact with AI models is highly desirable.
Hands-on experience with agile methodologies and tools like JIRA.
Experience with ELT and data engineering processes is a plus.
Experience with building and operationalizing predictive models, simulation, optimization frameworks, and AI solutions is a plus.

Proven ability to lead technology teams or programs, foster collaboration, and drive innovation.
Excellent project management skills, with a focus on delivering high-quality solutions on time and within budget.
Strong communication skills to explain the business value of data model projects and operations.

Ability to work effectively in a matrixed organization and across global locations.
Educational Background
A bachelor’s degree in a quantitative or scientific discipline is required.
Advanced degrees (MS. or Ph.D.) in relevant fields are preferred.
Other Requirements
Occasional travel to BMS locations throughout the world is anticipated.
The starting compensation for this job is a range from (NJ) $174,760-$211,800 (MA) $192,240-$232,900 plus incentive cash and stock opportunities (based on eligibility).
The starting pay rate takes into account characteristics of the job, such as required skills and where the job is performed.
Final, individual compensation will be decided based on demonstrated experience.
