InnoTECH Staffing is looking to hire a full-time/permanent Associate Director of Engineering focused on system integration for a medical device company in Watertown, MA.
This role requires being onsite 5 days a week.
Must be a US or Green Card Holder.
This role will be 30-40% tactical leadership and 60-70% engineering.
Will lead by example, coordinate a multidisciplinary team, ensure everyone is on track, focused on established goals, etc.
We’re hiring a Principal Mechanical Engineer with expertise in system integration! You should have experience in optics, fluidics, robotics, and embedded systems, with a proven record of taking complex devices from concept through design transfer. Most importantly, you are motivated by solving tough engineering challenges that directly improve patient outcomes.
Our client is a clinical diagnostics company developing a novel point-of-care instrument capable of simultaneous measurement of clinical chemistry, hematology, and immunoassays from human and animal blood. They are creating a new category of blood testing technology that brings the quality and menu of the reference laboratory to the point of care. The diagnostic platform seamlessly integrates three analytical technologies to provide comprehensive testing menus. They are seeking a highly collaborative and results-driven Principal Mechanical Engineer focusing on system integration.
Responsibilities:
Demonstrate leadership by contributing to strategic engineering discussions, aligning solutions with broader business goals, and mentoring team members through knowledge sharing and guidance.
Design and integrate systems involving optics, fluidics, robotics, real-time data processing, and software.
Lead product development following a stage-gate approach, interfacing with Contract Manufacturing Organizations (CMOs).
Establish requirements and lead design verification and validation in collaboration with the team.
Continuously evaluate and optimize the system architecture to enhance performance and scalability.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define precise technical requirements for hardware and software components.
Develop innovative design approaches to address complex engineering challenges and meet product specifications.
Work closely with external consultants to leverage specialized knowledge and expertise.
Review test protocols to ensure engineering verification tests rigorously assess product performance.
Diagnose and resolve technical problems efficiently to minimize downtime and impact on product development.
Actively participate in identifying, protecting, and strengthening the company's IP portfolio.
Mentor junior engineers and team members as needed.
Desired experience:
B.Sc. or M.Sc in Mechanical Engineering with 10+ years of experience in product development within the biotechnology or medical device industry.
Proven track record of team and people leadership.
Experience in moving products from concept to transfer to manufacturing.
Experience with cytometry is a plus.
