About the Role & Work Structure As a strategic leader on our Growth team, the Associate Director of Development plays a vital role in expanding our mission-driven impact. This position is ideal for a fundraising professional who thrives on building meaningful donor relationships, leading high-performing teams, and crafting innovative strategies to grow philanthropic support. With a comprehensive portfolio and the opportunity to shape national partnerships, this role offers a dynamic blend of relationship management, team leadership, and mission alignment - all in service of creating healthier futures for kids and families. Work Structure & Environment Full-time, exempt position Remote work location Standard business hours (Monday–Friday) with flexibility as needed to collaborate across time zones Physical Demands Primarily desk-based with extended seated work Regular computer use and virtual meetings Light items typically handled (e.g., notebooks, reports, small equipment) Travel Occasional travel (3 6 short trips per year) What You’ll Do As Associate Director of Development, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping and executing our fundraising strategy. You’ll manage a portfolio of mid-level to major donors, lead a small team, and collaborate across departments to secure support from corporations, foundations, government agencies, and individuals. Key Responsibilities: Cultivate, solicit, and steward five- and six-figure gifts across multiple funding streams Develop compelling proposals, pitch decks, and stewardship materials Supervise 1 3 development staff, providing mentorship and performance management Partner with the Chief Growth Officer to implement multi-year fundraising strategies Strengthen corporate and foundation partnerships, including national collaborations Coordinate donor communications and engagement campaigns with Marketing Track fundraising metrics and adjust strategies to meet annual goals of $5M–$15M+ What You’ll Bring to the Role Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or CFRE preferred Minimum 7 years of experience in nonprofit development or business development Experience with corporate partnerships, government grants, and foundation giving Proven success in nonprofit fundraising, including major gifts and institutional giving Strong leadership and team management skills Excellent communication and presentation abilities Highly organized and data-informed, with a proactive mindset Proficiency in donor databases (Salesforce preferred) and fundraising analytics Demonstrated commitment to improving the health and well-being of children and families Equal Opportunity: Action for Healthy Kids is committed to fair and inclusive hiring practices.
