Overview

Associate Director, Data Operations at Gilead Sciences. Gilead is focused on discovering, developing, and delivering therapies to improve lives. This role owns data management processes across multiple systems (e.g., commercial data warehouse, MDM), monitors data quality, maintains business rules, and supports cross-functional data management projects. The role serves as a trusted advisor to the commercial organization on data management and is the business owner of data operations and execution for the commercial operations group.

Responsibilities

  • Own data management workstreams end-to-end, ensuring fidelity of data warehouse operations and governance processes.
  • Identify, prioritize, and implement tools and capabilities for downstream users, including analytics teams and sales operations.
  • Lead cloud strategy for the commercial operations team representing all commercial analytics teams.
  • Influence the design of the analytics tech stack with end users’ needs in mind.
  • Collaborate with the Data Strategy team to maintain a data catalog and a central business rules repository for Gilead data assets.
  • Define clear use cases for tools active on top of Gilead data infrastructure.
  • Vendor management for cloud operations and business rule applications.
  • Create, design, and maintain data quality dashboards for commercial data management processes.
  • Oversee data onboarding, staging, and processing workflows.
  • Facilitate business rules discussions with cross-functional Analytics teams and stakeholders.
  • Document and maintain the central Business Rules repository.
  • Operate as business owner for onboarding pharma commercial data (e.g., IMS, SHA) into Gilead’s Commercial Data Warehouse.
  • Partner with IT, Analytics, and other Commercial Operations stakeholders to build key commercial systems and processes (e.g., Commercial Data Warehouse).
  • Explore new technologies to advance data investigations, conflicts, and data stewardship queues.
  • Manage sustainment requests and prioritization for data warehouse and reporting updates across franchises.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong project management skills with the ability to drive large, complex cross-functional projects and sustain them long term.
  • Working knowledge of software systems (e.g., MS Excel, Access, MS Word, PowerPoint).
  • Advanced experience with SQL and/or BI tools (e.g., MicroStrategy, Tableau).
  • Ability to coordinate demands from multiple internal customers and collaborate effectively.
  • Strong analytical and strategic/tactical planning capabilities.
  • Ability to translate business issues and opportunities into solutions through analysis.
  • Ability to present complex information clearly to all levels of management.
  • Effective communication of technical and qualitative information to non-technical executives.
  • Advanced knowledge of pharmaceutical data and systems (CRM, Customer Master, Data Warehouse, Sample systems, etc.).
  • Understanding of the pharmaceutical business model (Product Development, Marketing, Sales, Sales Operations, Marketing Analytics, Medical Affairs, Contracting, etc.).
  • Cloud implementation experience from a business perspective is highly desirable.
  • Experience implementing or leading a tech stack for analytics is highly desirable.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

High School Degree and 14 Years’ Experience
OR Associate’s degree and 12 Years Experience
OR Bachelor’s Degree and 10 Years’ Experience
OR Master’s Degree and 8 Years’ Experience
OR PhD and 2 Years’ Experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters/MBA preferred.
  • BS/BA plus 10+ years of relevant experience in sales/marketing analysis, statistical analysis, and financial forecasting, preferably in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry.
  • Previous Sales Operations/Data Strategy and/or Business Technology experience.
  • Proficiency in conversational and written English is required to perform essential job functions.

The salary range for this position is $182,070.00 - $235,620.00. This position may be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary by role), paid time off, and a benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans.
