About the Role and the Organization This role is part of a groundbreaking initiative to launch a state-of-the-art facility that merges advanced manufacturing and drug development in a single location. The facility will support the development of innovative manufacturing processes, boost capacity for clinical trial medicines, and help reduce both costs and environmental impact. The Associate Director, Automation Engineering Small Molecule API will play a critical leadership role in building and guiding the process control team during the facility’s startup and operational phases. This is a unique opportunity to shape a high-impact organization from the ground up in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Job Responsibilities Lead, mentor, and manage a team of process control engineers and consultants supporting daily manufacturing operations. Oversee staffing strategy including hiring, resource planning, and succession development. Develop and execute the Automation Engineering Business Plan aligned with technical, compliance, and operational goals. Monitor functional performance, ensure regulatory compliance, and uphold environmental, health, and safety standards. Collaborate cross-functionally through project delivery and startup phases to implement systems, build culture, and ensure readiness for GMP operations. Job Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with relevant experience in Automation Engineering for API or Small Molecule manufacturing. 7+ years of experience in pharmaceutical or biopharma engineering, manufacturing, or operations. Demonstrated expertise in designing, commissioning, and qualifying automation systems in greenfield facilities. Proficiency with SCADA, DCS, and MES platforms such as DeltaV, Rockwell, and Syncade. Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills with the ability to manage technical teams in evolving environments.
