About the Role and the Organization
We're partnered with a leading pharmaceutical company that is discovering and bringing life-changing medicines to patients across the world. They are seeking an Associate Director of Automation Engineering for Process Automation to support their ongoing biologics drug substance development. This role will lead a large group of automation engineers and lead at the intersection of process development, manufacturing, and automation.
Job Responsibilities
Recruit, mentor, and manage automation engineers and technicians, ensuring career development, performance management, and succession planning.
Direct daily operations and project execution within the automation group, including pilot plant and associated process development labs.
Oversee automation documentation and activities to meet data integrity, cGMP, Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE), and quality system requirements.
Serve as a liaison between engineering, technical, and cross-functional teams to align automation initiatives and drive innovation.
Allocate personnel for new projects, manage contract staff, and control budgets to support operational efficiency and strategic objectives.
Job Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related science field.
Minimum 8 years of experience in pharmaceutical or related manufacturing sectors ideally in automation engineering for process development and manufacturing of biologics
Proven experience supervising or leading technical teams in a regulated environment.
Strong knowledge of automation platforms, data systems, historians, and regulatory compliance (e.g., cGMP). - DeltaV, Unicorn, Aspen PI
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams and diverse cultures.
