The Associate Athletics Director is a key leadership role within the department, under the direction of the Athletics Director. This full-time position is an excellent opportunity for an energetic professional who thrives on working in a collaborative fast-paced environment in college athletics.
Primary Responsibilities
Leadership and Supervision
Work closely and collaboratively with the Athletics Director and serve in the capacity of being second in command in the athletics department.
Serve as a member of the athletics department leadership team and act as the primary sport administrator and supervisor of six coaches.
Provide guidance, support and supervision of the Coordinator of Athletics Communication and the Coordinator of the Event Management positions.
Participate in department meetings, planning sessions, and strategic initiatives. Assist with special event planning such as our annual Wall of Fame, Golf Outing Fundraiser and our Spring Student-Athletes Awards program and dinner.
Work collaboratively with the Athletics Director to review and update the Athletics Strategic Plan and prioritize the next steps moving forward.
Represent the University In meetings or committees across campus as appointed by the athletics director including search committees for new athletic department hires.
Budget and Finance
Serve as the primary department liaison to the Business Office on all financial matters. Assist with end of year financial reports such as Federal EADA and NAIA ROA reports.
Assist coaches and staff with the annual budget planning and reconciliation of accounts.
Develop and manage the departments annual operating budget in coordination with the Athletics Director and Vice-President of Finance.
Monitor and review all purchase orders, check requests, expense reports, and credit card expenditures before approving to ensuring adherence to policies and compliance.
Support and assist with revenue-generating activities such as camps, rentals, special events, sponsorship, donations and fundraising events.
Track all revenues and expenditures across athletic accounts, including team budgets, scholarships, and fundraising.
Evaluate financial procedures and identify opportunities for improved efficiency and transparency.
Operations Management
Evaluate current practices to identify inefficiencies within our operations and implement policies and procedures to streamline workflow.
Explore modernization of departmental processes, including scheduling, team travel coordination, financial oversight, and budget management.
Collaborate with other campus departments, including Human Resources and the Business Office to ensure athletics operations align with institutional policies and goals.
Seek find more efficient University and department processes to complete required end of year required reports (Federal EADA, NAIA ROA, etc.) to help ensure compliance.
Academic Success
Continue to expand our campus partnerships and academic support systems across campus to help student-athletes succeed.
Work with faculty and administration to explore ways student-athletes could miss less classes for athletics contests. This may include courses times, allowing co-curricular students to have priority scheduling as well as reviewing team and conference scheduling.
Seek to build a comprehensive academic platform for student-athletes by strengthening communications with Academic Affairs, Academic Advising, Academic Resource Center, Center for Student Success and Student Affairs.
Plan a pre-season meeting with each team to review academic standards, eligibility requirements and best practices.
Student-Athlete Experience
Help foster a student-centered environment that provides holistic support systems for our student-athletes allowing them to have a safe, healthy, positive experience.
Build positive team cultures through the department by giving student-athletes a positive experience. This may include feedback from athletes and training for coaches.
Review practice and competition schedules to help ensure student-athletes have the best opportunity to experience competitive success and academic achievement.
Integrate end of season feedback surveys from student-athletes to better assess their experience working in partnership with Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and their staff leader.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, sports management, finance, accounting or a related field required, master’s degree preferred.
Experience in college athletics administration, or financial management desirable.
Proficiency with Microsoft office software and financial systems and spreadsheets desirable.
Evening and weekend work required as well as some travel required.
