Job Description:


We seek a dynamic, collaborative leader who has an established track record for high-quality curricular development at the university level and who is interested in preparing genetic counselors for 21st-century careers. The successful candidate will have a unique and exciting mandate and will work with faculty to design, build, and nurture the University's offerings to attain enhanced student achievement and external recognition. An appreciation for an integrated, interdisciplinary approach to learning is especially desired. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to use creative and innovative approaches to academic program development.

This position is a full-time, non-tenure position. Reporting to the Program Director of the Genetic Counseling Program, this position is a member of the program's leadership team. This position, while remote, is located at the East Longmeadow campus and the School of Health and Natural Sciences. Occasional travel to the campus is required as outlined by the Office of Academic Affairs and specific GC program events.

Collaborating with the Program Director and Associate Program Director, the Assistant Program Director acts as Fieldwork Coordinator, overseeing the fieldwork training aspects of the Genetic Counseling Program. The Assistant Program Director must be knowledgeable and responsible for ensuring the students have a robust and diverse fieldwork training that meets and exceeds the current genetic counseling Accreditation Council of Genetic Counseling (ACGC) accreditation and certification standards and requirements. Key responsibilities include identifying new fieldwork training sites, securing and maintaining institutional affiliation agreements, and managing all documentation related to students, supervisors, and simulated patients. The Assistant Program Director must also foster strong, collaborative relationships with fieldwork sites and supervisors to support a positive and effective learning environment.

The Assistant Program Director will have teaching responsibilities in this program, and specific courses will be defined on the annual workload form. This person must be available to teach in all three semesters (fall-Sept through December, spring-January-April, and summer-May-August).

The Assistant Program Director will be expected to participate in curriculum development and innovation; teach graduate courses including teaching courses using alternative delivery methods: online, hybrid, weekends; advise graduate students; participate actively in local, state, and national professional organizations; and contribute to the service mission of the University and the School.

The Assistant Program Director will be expected to attend open houses, orientations, advisory boards, and other meetings as requested.

Bay Path University's School of Health and Natural Sciences houses the University's Genetic Counseling, Physician Assistant, Occupational Therapy, Clinical Mental Health, Nursing, Healthcare Management, Doctorate in Health Science, Post Professional OT Doctorate, and Undergraduate Science and Health & Human Services programs. Through evidence-based practice and project-based learning, these programs prepare human science professionals for success in a rapidly changing global environment, with applied work, clinical rotations, practicums, and fieldwork assignments.

The scholar selected for this position will join a collaborative and dedicated School that emphasizes excellence in education at all levels. They will lead and participate in committees and activities that are essential to the program, such as admissions, research mentoring, community outreach, and significant new initiatives for the purposes of cutting-edge preparation.

This position will undertake special projects at the request of the Program Director.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Serve on program committees as needed, such as the Advisory Board, Admissions Committee, Leadership Committee, and Curriculum Committee.

With the Program Director, the Associate Program Director, faculty, and instructional designer, assist in the curriculum development of other GC program courses.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

If you operate a university-owned, leased, or personal vehicle at any time while performing your duties, you must follow all policies and procedures outlined in the Operations Manual. You must have a valid driver's license and must successfully pass the online safe Driving Course and driving record check at the time of hire and annually thereafter. Additionally, you must report any driving offense, on or off company time, which causes a loss, suspension, or any other change in your license status. You must report this change within one business day of the offense. You can report this change to the Human Resource Department or your direct supervisor. Failure to do so can lead to disciplinary action, up to and including termination.
