Job Description
Huntington University has an opening for an Assistant Professor of Social Work & Director of Field Education. This is a full time, hybrid position with a 12-hour course load. Within the 12 hour course load, 9 credits will be courses taught in the social work curriculum; 3 hours will be devoted to social work field education.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must have a strong personal Christian commitment and faith in Jesus Christ and a desire to serve others
- Must be committed to the mission of Huntington University as a comprehensive Christian College dedicated to educating men and women to impact our world for Christ
- Master of Science in Social Work required
- 5 years of experience in social work or related fields
- Demonstrated understanding of Christian higher education, preferred
- Positive interpersonal skills and a team player
- Excellent communications skills
- Demonstrated administrative and supervisory skills
- Commitment to continuous process improvement
- Accreditation Standard 4.2.2: Faculty who teach social work practice courses have a master’s degree in social work from a CSWE-BOA accredited program and at least two years of post-master’s social work degree practice experience in social work.
- Accreditation Standard B4.2.1: The baccalaureate social work program identifies no fewer than two full-time faculty, with a full-time appointment in social work, whose principal assignment is to the baccalaureate program. Inclusive of all program options, the majority of the full-time social work program faculty whose principal assignment is to the baccalaureate program have a master’s degree in social work from a CSWE-BOA accredited program.
- Accreditation Standard B4.3.5(b): The baccalaureate field education director has a master’s degree in social work from a CSWE-BOA accredited program and at least two years of post-baccalaureate social work degree or post-master’s social work degree practice experience in social work. The field education director has the ability to provide leadership to the field education program through practice experience, field instruction experience, and administrative and/or other relevant academic and professional activities in social work.
