Position Summary
This position will be a vital member of the Library Advancement Team and will play a key role in achieving the Library’s vision for its third century. Reporting to the Director of Development, University Library, the Assistant or Associate Director of Donor Relations will manage acknowledgment of donors and recognition programs, consult and provide content for publications and prepare communications on behalf of the Library, and manage all advancement event planning and execution.
Responsibilities Organize endowment fund stewardship process, coordinate with central advancement and Library staff to produce customized endowment reports
Develop and manage new customized stewardship and financial reporting process for select current-use donors of $5K+
Create original customized stewardship strategies for the Library’s most generous benefactors, including individualized donor recognition experiences/events for significant contributors and the greater Library community
Manage donor acknowledgment process, write thank you letters and other acknowledgment materials, pull gift reports, determine the method of acknowledgment, prepare cards or letters, execute method of delivery
Participate in the review of stewardship policies and procedures, identify opportunities for increased efficiency and innovation in stewardship protocols
Coordinate with Library Finance, central gift processing, and accounting, and the SVP for External Relations’ office for gift receipt and tracking, proposals, and gift agreements
Manage travel events for the Dean and advancement team, identify key markets for the events, travel to and manage event logistics in each city
Execute sophisticated events in Library spaces, including Pavilion II to cultivate, recognize, educate, and steward donors and prospects of the Library, nurture enduring relationships by maintaining their institutional interest and involvement, in coordination with the Director
Maintain accurate and efficient tracking of activities in the donor database, enter contact reports, track affiliations, etc.
Collaborate with colleagues across Grounds to ensure best practices are implemented and to foster a sense of community among development colleagues in the various unit and foundation offices, attend across-grounds meetings and communities of practice
Other duties as assigned; may include filing reimbursements, reconciling travel and expense card statements, and other limited clerical duties

Their strong critical thinking skills enable effective problem-solving, and they adeptly prioritize tasks while adapting to shifting responsibilities.
Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree
At least three years of experience
Preferred Qualifications
Five years of experience in a professional setting (minimum for Associate Director)
Donor relations experience
Physical Demands
This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
Salary Range
The anticipated hiring range is $60,000 - $75,000 , commensurate with education and experience.

This is a restricted position, which is dependent on funding and is contingent upon funding availability.
UVA External Relations offers a flexible and hybrid workplace. All team members must have access to and maintain a secure home office environment with high-speed internet service and work collaboratively with others using a variety of technologies and tools. This hybrid position can be frequently worked remotely, although periodic in-person work in our office building, on UVA Grounds, or at event venues is required. The Assistant or Associate Director should live within driving distance of Charlottesville, Virginia.
