Assistant Director, SCM Career Management - Supply Chain Management Haslam College of Business Regular Full-Time, Market Range 10 The Haslam College of Business (HCB) at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, invites applications for an Assistant Director of SCM Career Management (Full-time, Exempt) in the Supply Chain Management department. Reporting to the Director of SCM Student Development & Career Management, this position will serve as a strategic part of the Supply Chain Management Career Team through developing and supporting programs and opportunities for SCM students to grow into successful professionals. The individual in this role will split their time between supporting graduate and undergraduate SCM programs. This position serves as the primary career coach for students in the online MS in Supply Chain Management program as well as the internship coordinator for students in the undergraduate Supply Chain Management program. This role assists students to reach their professional potential by counseling one-on-one, providing resources, and facilitating programs that will ensure career success for students both during their program and beyond. This role will be working with the Global Supply Chain Institute (GSCI) and is housed within the departments of Supply Chain Management and Graduate and Executive Education in the Haslam College of Business. GSCI shapes and influences the practice of supply chain management by serving as the preeminent global hub for leading practitioners, academics, and students to learn, network, and connect. GSCI’s goal is to provide partners and students a competitive advantage by enhancing their knowledge and understanding of how the supply chain is evolving at home and abroad. Qualifications
Responsibilities: Internship Program Management/Tracking/Reporting/Coaching: Educate students, faculty, and staff regarding the internship requirement for undergraduate SCM majors through class presentations, individual consultation, and strategic internal marketingDistribute and collect documentation for every SCM undergrad to ensure progression toward internship completion including liability waivers, internship plans, exemption requests, internship approval forms, and internship completion verification; Provide 1:1 and group career coaching sessions to students seeking internshipsAssist underclassmen with developing goals and strategies for securing an internship before their senior year while educating them on industry information, job search strategies, development of communication resources such as resumes, cover letters, LinkedIn profiles, etc.Track student progress pertaining to required internship component and collect data on internships; Follow-up with students and advisors as needed to monitor progress when students are struggling to complete internship requirementsServe as instructor of record for SCM 489 each semester to ensure final requirements are met through formal internship or alternative projectSupervise GTA which supports SCM 489 and internship approval processesCreate and disseminate reports on internship placement, post-graduation outcomes, and student engagement in departmental events in consultation with the Director Graduate Student Career Coaching, Resource Development, and Program Execution Consult with graduate students on individualized professional development strategies based on personal career path and goalsConduct annual needs assessments, and create, implement, and facilitate virtual programming for MS program based on student and employer feedbackIn collaboration with Graduate Business Programs team, develop tools for tracking and reporting student outcomesPartner with graduate student staff to facilitate programming at bi-annual Immersion Week for MS SCM Online studentsFacilitate Grad Student networking opportunities at bi-annual Supply Chain Forum and throughout the year in smaller virtual settingsManage content and strategy for MS SCM LinkedIn group Program Management, Execution, and Support Manage early intervention career programming, including but not limited to the Supply Chain Career Ready Certification, for 1st and 2nd year undergrad students to facilitate stronger connections within the major and equip students for success early on in their studiesIn collaboration with the Office of Access and Community Connections, lead SCM Summer Camp which is a week-long immersive experience for high school students to learn about and engage in the field of Supply Chain ManagementPlan and facilitate multiple VolTreks (employer site visits) each semester to expose students to opportunities in the field and network with employers Coordinate and deliver department-wide career programming including resume workshops, mock interview sessions, career exploration events, etc. open to all SCM students geared toward improving chances of securing internships with top companiesAssist with execution of events consistent with the Supply Chain Management Department and Global Supply Chain Institute’s mission, including career fairs, forums, honors events, drop-in hours, workshops, etc. Assist in planning and facilitating employer networking events with GSCI partner organizationsAs needed, mentor and support student groups pertaining to the SCM major Qualifications: Required Qualifications and Experience: Master’s degree in Education, Counseling, Business, or related fieldMinimum 2 years of experience in a career coaching or advising roleExperience planning and implementing programs and workshopsFamiliarity with business communication (ie: resumes, cover letters, executive summaries) Desired Qualifications and Experience: Experience working with students from business disciplines or associated employment industriesExperience working with and coaching non-traditional students, graduate students, and/or business studentsExperience conducting career coaching and/or career exploration meetings with undergraduate studentsExperience planning and facilitating virtual programming Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Required: Ability to provide strong advocacy of students in achieving their career goals;
