Brown University's School of Professional Studies (SPS) brings a Brown education to new audiences of learners: those focused on the development of skills and a breadth of knowledge necessary for professional success and leadership. We leverage Brown's intellectual centers of excellence, rigorous teaching, and developmental approach to learning in a range of programs, including serving students outside of traditional degree programs. We partner with Brown departments, centers, institutes, and schools to develop degree and non-degree programs, and to support the recruitment, retention, and placement success of master's students, including traditional, non-traditional, and professional students.

Responsibilities

The Assistant Director of Systems and Data Reporting analyzes and reports on data for 35+ master's degree programs, as well as for a portfolio of non-degree courses and certificates managed by the School of Professional Studies (SPS). This individual designs, produces, validates, distributes, and updates both quantitative and qualitative reports, queries, and data visualizations to support data-informed decision making in all facets of SPS's processes, including the recruitment funnel (program prospects, inquiries, applicants, admission decisions, matriculants, and defers). The Assistant Director provides timely and interpretive reports for the Director of Enrollment Management, Director of Executive Education, SPS's Senior Leadership Team, and others to inform recruitment, communication, selection, and enrollment strategies and policies.

The Assistant Director will work with the Associate Director of Masters Admissions Systems and others to identify data needs and develop tools in relevant systems (Technolutions Slate, Tableau, IBM Cognos Analytics) to address those needs.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

Four or more years of experience administering daily systems operations, preferably in college admission environment

Four or more years of experience running queries and validating data

Four or more years of experience building workspaces and workflows in a CRM or relational database

Four or more years of experience working with integrated student database systems

Demonstrated understanding of complex table joins and database query language

Experience creating data connections between Tableau Server and various data sources

Demonstrated proficiency developing dashboards that are intuitive, impactful, user friendly, multi-faceted, and visually appealing

Experience with manipulating data from a relational database

Ability to craft logic formulas and calculations to display data in a clear way

Preferred

Previous experience in higher education

Degree in business/data analytics, computer science, management information systems or technically related field

Experience with Ellucian Banner and Technolutions Slate, or other student information and customer relationship management systems

Experience developing and providing training to a professional and potentially non-technical audience
