Responsibilities: Project & Portfolio Management
Lead the definition, planning, and execution of small to medium-scale technology projects, ensuring delivery within scope, timeline, and budget.
Coordinate across assistant directors, team leads, and vendors to drive project outcomes without direct supervisory authority.
Maintain project documentation (charters, schedules, status reports, risk logs) and ensure adherence to organizational project management standards. Identify risks, dependencies, and operational gaps, and develop mitigation plans.
Operational Coordination
Serve as a point of integration for projects and operations, ensuring handoffs, dependencies, and workflows across Technology Solutions are aligned.
Monitor budgetary, financial, and resource elements of projects and operational activities; flag risks and propose adjustments.
Support process improvement initiatives to enhance service reliability, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
Stakeholder Engagement & Influence
Facilitate effective collaboration with internal stakeholders, including business partners, technology teams, and vendors.
Represent the Associate CIO in project meetings, operational reviews, and cross-campus working groups as appropriate.
Provide clear communication to leadership and stakeholders on project and operational status, risks, and outcomes.
Leadership Development Role
Act as a thought partner to the Associate CIO, providing input on strategic priorities and helping translate them into executable plans.
Model best practices in project and portfolio management, providing informal mentoring to staff and peers.
Contribute to organizational governance, standards, and reporting that ensure smooth operations across Research Technologies and Innovation.
Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor Degree in Computer Science or closely related field of study.
Minimum of 8 years of professional IT experience which includes 2 years’ experience at a supervisory or management capacity.
Demonstrated PPO/PMO Project Management which includes demonstrated experience in managing all aspects of a diverse IT project or multiple IT projects. Define project timeline and resolve issues to ensure completion of project goals and requirements within defined timeline.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects in a matrixed environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
MBA, PMP or comparable project management certification.
Familiarity with the unique challenges of research computing, data management, or secure environments in higher education or healthcare.
Knowledge of project portfolio management tools and practices.
Ability to work effectively with leadership and represent senior management in multi-stakeholder settings.
Strong skills in project planning, scheduling, and reporting tools (MS Project, Smartsheet, or equivalent).
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to lead through influence and collaboration rather than direct authority.
