Job Summary: The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) supports the Director of Nursing in planning, organizing, developing, and directing the overall operations of the Nursing Department in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations, facility policies, and best clinical practices. The ADON ensures quality care is delivered to all residents and supervises nursing staff to maintain regulatory compliance and high standards of care.
Demonstrates Competency in the Following Areas:
Understands and demonstrates knowledge of ADON responsibilities, policies, and regulatory requirements.
Effectively supervises nursing staff, promotes teamwork, and provides mentorship.
Ensures high-quality care is delivered consistently; reviews care plans and follows-up as needed.
Monitors and ensures compliance with state/federal regulations and facility policies.
Oversees and reinforces infection control practices.
Responds effectively to challenges, complaints, and incidents.
Demonstrates ethical behavior, reliability, and a professional demeanor.
Takes initiative to improve care quality, staff development, and workflow efficiency.
Review and ensure that care plans, medications, treatments, and nurse documentation comply with physicians orders.
Supervise, mentor, and support nursing staff (RNs, LPNs, CNAs).
Coordinate and participate in audits, surveys, meetings, and quality assurance performance improvement (QAPI) programs.
Monitor infection control practices and ensure compliance with protocols.
Assist with staffing, scheduling, and coverage as needed to meet staffing requirements, including on-call rotation.
Investigate resident/family complaints and incidents, and follow through with appropriate actions.
Assists in training and orientation of new staff.
Serve as acting DON in their absence.
Performs other job related duties as requested.

Education/Qualification Requirements:
Current RN License in the State of Georgia.
Current BLS certification. (Must obtain within 90 days of hire).
Experience:
Previous experience as a Registered Nurse in a long-term care facility is preferred but not required.
