About the Role We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) – Staff Educator to join our leadership team. This position plays a dual role in supporting the Director of Nursing (DON) with administrative and clinical leadership, while also overseeing the planning, coordination, and delivery of educational programs for our nursing staff.
The ideal candidate is a Registered Nurse (RN) with a strong background in staff development, clinical training, and regulatory compliance who is passionate about mentoring, educating, and empowering staff to deliver exceptional resident care.
Key Responsibilities
Assist the DON in managing daily operations of the nursing department.
Develop, implement, and evaluate comprehensive staff education and training programs.
Conduct orientation and onboarding for new nursing staff.
Provide ongoing in-service training and continuing education to ensure compliance with state, federal, and facility regulations.
Monitor staff competencies and clinical performance, offering coaching and mentorship.
Assist with quality assurance initiatives, audits, and performance improvement programs.
Ensure that infection control, resident safety, and best-practice nursing standards are upheld.
Act as a resource and role model for clinical excellence, professionalism, and teamwork.
Qualifications
Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; advanced degree a plus.
Minimum 3–5 years of nursing leadership experience in a long-term care or healthcare setting.
Previous experience in staff education, training, or clinical instruction strongly preferred.
Excellent communication, presentation, and leadership skills.
Knowledge of regulatory compliance and standards of nursing practice.
