Responsibilities
The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) is responsible for assisting the Director of Nursing with coordinating, panning an evaluating quality patient care. The ADON will assume the responsibilities of Director of Nursing in his/her absence.
Essential Functions:
Quality - Maintains accountability for nursing practice and delivery of quality patient care through collaboration with the DON, therapists, and other nursing staff on a daily basis.
Shares the intformation about the disease processes and underlying disabilities with outher nurses and team members
Performs hands-on nursing care by utilizing the nursing process to achieve quality outcomes for the patients on a daily basis.
Initiates and completes a nursing assessment within the specified time frame, according to hospitla policy
Assess the physical, psychological, socio-cultural, and spiritual dimensions of patients and their families, as well as their education and discharge needs in order to formulate a plan of care of a daily basis.
Implements a plan of care based upon recognized funcational needs/problem lists, and modifies the plan of care as needed, to achieve measurable goals and objectives upon administration and modified as needed.
Devlopes outcome related goals in collaboration with patients, their families, and the interdisciplinary team., that are oriented to wellness behavior and are reality based and encourage socialization with others as needed
Participates in the interdisciplinary team process at weekly team conferences and other team meetings and offers input into team decision making
Collaborates with team members to achieve cost-effective care by utilizing appropriate clinical resources to meet patient's needs on a daily basis.
Documents nursing interventions, changes in the patient's condition, physician visits, etc., on the nurses daily flow sheet, according to the hospital's policy and proccedures.
Administrers medications according to hospitla policy and procesdures within the designated time frames.
Demonstrates the ability to assess a situation, consider alternatives and choose appropriate courses of action with a proactive attitude.
Demonstrates an ability to perform duties in a manner consistent with the patient's Bill of Rights on a daily basis
Demonstrates the ability to delegate and supervise nursing taks to LPN's, CNA's, and clerks as indicated
Recognizes emergency patient situations and repsonds appropriately with initiation of ACLS protocol on as needed basis.
Educates on nursing techniques to help patients and their families on development of self care skills necessary to move toward wellness on the illness-wellness continuum.
Prepares patients and families for future decision making responsibilities by fostering their independence and goal achievement
Assistant with the education of the nursing staff in regard to patient care issues and disease processes by conducting one in-service at least every six months.
Manages the care of ventilator and telemetry patients to ensure optimal recovery.
Dietary management responsibilities include supervising and/or delegating the supervison of patient tray checks for accuracy of each diet ordered, portion sizes of all three meals each day for a patient; reports discrpancies in the patient's meal and/or meal service to the Registered Dietitian and if necessary, ensures that he correct tray is reordered and delivered to the patient in a timely manner.
Performs all other duties as delegated by teh Director of Nursing
Quality Officer TS Plans and coordinates PI Meetings
Quality Officer TS: Coordinates data collection and analysis, prepares reports, tracks data collected by designated individuals
Quality Officer TS: Servces as a resource to medical staff, managers, other staff
Required Skills:
Current, valid, and active license to practice as a Nurse in the state of employment required.
Minimum two (2) years of supervisory experience required.
Current BLS & ACLS certifications required
Qualifications
Additional Qualifications/Skills :
Associate’s Degree in Nursing or Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred.
Ability to project a professional image.
Knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance requirements.
Strong organizational, prioritizing and analytical skills.
Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant.
Working knowledge of computer and software applications used in job functions.
Freedom from illegal use of and effects of use of drugs and alcohol in the workplace.
