Position Summary
The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) works with the Director of Nursing to establish a framework through which person-centered resident care can be provided in keeping with the philosophies and objectives of LSC. The ADON functions as a leader and role model for other nursing personnel and has the responsibility to relieve the Director of Nursing in his or her absence.
Position requires a set schedule and on-call responsibilities
Participates in the establishment, interpretation, and implementation of nursing service philosophy, objectives, and policies.
Supervises nursing personnel to ensure that duties are carried out in a manner that provides maximum quality of care to residents.
Serves on facility committees, such as the Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) Committee, as assigned.
Works with physicians, consultants, and other disciplines within the facility to assure that each resident receives optimal care in the provision of his or her physical, psychological, social, and spiritual needs.
Assumes proportionate share of 24-hour call.
Acts as liaison with licensed personnel for consultation and decision-making.
Conducts daily rounds, nursing observations, and assessments, as indicated.
Demonstrates knowledge of emergency care, disaster and evacuation policies and procedures, and safety program.
Perform duties of Nursing Supervisor, Charge Nurse, or Staff Nurse when required.
Perform duties of the Director of Nursing in the case of absence or as assigned.
Understands and assures compliance with current State and Federal regulations and LSC policies, procedures, and philosophies.
Participates in the formulation, implementation, and evaluation of the nursing department personnel program, including staffing, interviewing and hiring, coaching, evaluations, and disciplinary action as required.
Monitors restorative nursing program, infection control program, and QAPI program, as assigned.
Participates in educational programs as required.

Completes other assigned duties as may be necessary for the orderly operation of the facility.
Qualifications
Applicant must be an RN graduate from an accredited School of Nursing
Position requires a minimum of 2 years of geriatric care and supervision preferred
Work Environment
Physical exertion involving pushing, pulling, or lifting up to 35 pounds, occasionally up to 50 pounds.
Prolonged standing or walking, with occasional bending and reaching.
Assisting in repositioning and transferring residents while following safe lifting procedures.
