The Assistant Director of Housing and Residence Life is a 12-month, live-on, full time, staff member responsible for the daily management of a 275+ bed residence hall. The position requires some overnight, weekend and non-traditional workday responsibilities. We are looking for collaborative, open-minded and hard working professionals to work in a real world urban learning environment who want to join us in our mission: to provide residents with a clean, safe, and welcoming living environment that promotes maturity, supports academic success, and enhances personal growth on every level.
Job Description Coordinate and oversee educational aspects of Residence Hall management Work with Facilities to address work orders and other room related issues Provide support and guidance to Resident Assistants (RAs), Community Assistants (CAs), and Office Assistants (OAs) Conduct and coordinate student staff training and supervision Create an atmosphere that promotes student success, academic excellence, personal development and respect for diversity Create an atmosphere that builds a strong sense of community among residents Address student and parent concerns Serve on departmental, Division of Student Affairs, and/or university committees Encourage an environment that is supportive of identity, inclusion, and social change Execute independent judgement in providing duty coverage for evenings, weekends, and holidays Provide excellent customer service to residents, visitors, parents and outside agencies Evaluate and assess student staff and programs Oversee Housing Scholarship Program Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Bachelors' Degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs' or related field Residential Life/Housing experience (1-2 years) Strong interpersonal, management, organization and communication skills Successful completion of background check(s) Preferred Qualifications Master's degree; preferably in Higher Education, Student Affairs or related field Residential Education experience with a strong emphasis in programming and training or equivalent amount of education and experience
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Google Suite, Microsoft Office, Experience with Housing Software (such as, erezlife, starrez, THD, etc.) and Conduct Software (such as Maxient, Advocate, etc.) and Housing/Residence Life/Student Affairs' experience.
