The Office of Development is investing in the growth of our team! Every member plays a role in providing our donors with the service and attention that ensures an exceptionally positive and fulfilling philanthropic experience. The Assistant Director of Development, School of Management, is an integral part of the Major Gifts team and will play a critical role in our expansion.
We are currently in a quiet phase of our $500 million capital campaign; this role will help to build stronger ties with our alumni and surrounding communities. The next five years will be crucial as we launch several significant initiatives, including building upon alumni relationships, helping to launch the School of Management’s campaign of $50 million, and celebrating next year’s Centennial anniversary of the business school.
The School of Management has eight graduate programs and nine undergraduate programs, with over 50,000 alumni worldwide. The Assistant Director will help to actively build and support the fundraising pipeline, assist with supporting Advisory Boards, volunteer committees, and collaborate with the Dean of the School of Management, alumni engagement, and special events teams. They will also help plan events to engage major donors, alumni, and the business community.
Reporting to the Director of Development, the Assistant Director will fundraise for all programs and campaign priorities, actively building and managing relationships, and securing funding from donors capable of making gifts of $25,000+ with a goal of over $100,000 in year one and increasing subsequently.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Fundraising 50%
Manage an initial personal portfolio of 75-125 prospects, developing ongoing relationships from research through cultivation, solicitation, closure, and stewardship. Make at least 8-10 prospect/donor visits per month. Qualify 24-36 prospects per year. Conduct a minimum of 6 solicitations aiming to raise $250,000+ in year one.
Volunteer Engagement 20%
Staff advisory boards and volunteer committees, help recruit members, and support relationships with volunteers and committees to support the mission of the business school.
Strategic Planning 15%
Partner with the Director of Development to establish a five-year strategy to grow contributions, increase major gifts, and secure gifts from alumni, the business community, non-alumni, and parents. Help implement and manage the Young Alumni membership program.
Collaboration 15%
Collaborate with other fundraising teams on relevant efforts. Stay current on programs, faculty, research, and initiatives within the School of Management and the university.
QUALIFICATIONS :
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; advanced degrees preferred.
3-5 years of successful fundraising or related experience, especially in major gifts.
Proven ability to achieve fundraising goals and work effectively with high net worth individuals and community leaders.
Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, with a high degree of emotional intelligence.
Knowledge of fundraising concepts, donor relations, and public relations principles.
Ability to learn about USF’s mission, vision, and initiatives.
