The Assistant Director will assist the Assistant Dean and Director in all tasks associated with procuring student employment. This will include providing input and data required for management decisions as well as administering relevant law school policies, as well as working directly with students, alumni, and potential employers. The Assistant Director will serve as coordinator for pro bono opportunities at the law school under the supervision of the Assistant Dean and Director. Required Qualifications Graduate-level (master’s) degree and 3+ years work experience in technical writing and editing Preferred Qualifications Juris Doctor degree; active law license in any U.S. jurisdiction; 3+ years of legal practice, or 3+ years working in a law school career services office, or other relevant experience; general knowledge of legal career pathways, such as summer associate hiring, judicial clerkship programs, and new attorney hiring in public and private sectors; editorial experience, such as technical editing, document drafting, review or journal participation; demonstrated interest in professional development, such as bar association leadership, access to justice efforts, mentoring programs, and conference attendance; experience advising graduate or professional school students. Physical Demands Job Duty Job Duty counsel students with regard to all aspects of career opportunities and career development, job‑search techniques, career planning, resumes, cover letters, and interview preparation Job Duty provide thorough document reviews for students and alumni including resumes, cover letters, references, and other application materials Job Duty assist with the development, marketing, and administration of career services recruiting programs throughout the academic year Job Duty develop and help coordinate educational programming, workshops, and seminars, including but not limited to student programming, resume and cover letter workshops, practice area/career path programs, networking events, and mock interviews Job Duty assist the Director and Assistant Dean with all facets of employer outreach Job Duty develop and revise career services resources, publications, and policies, including updates to the career services webpage and relevant sections of the law school’s student handbook Job Duty assist the Director with identifying areas of programming need and implementing new programs Job Duty provide support to faculty as needed, such as site placement assistance to the Director of Experiential Learning and class presentations, as directed Job Duty support law student group activities by responding to inquiries, assisting with attorney or judicial speaker requests, and offering presentations or other useful programming Job Duty participate in student community events and attend faculty/staff events Job Duty assist the Director with annual collection of graduate employment information for the purposes of completing the Employment Questionnaire for the American Bar Association and remain apprised of any updates to the Employment Questionnaire protocols Job Duty help the Director maintain all career services employment and outcomes data in compliance with ABA standards, protocols, and best practices Job Duty support alumni engagement efforts by responding to alumni inquiries, internally and externally posting alumni-related content on approved social media platforms, facilitating alumni attendance at law school CLE, and attending alumni events at the request of the Assistant Dean or Director Job Duty assist the Director and the Director for Development with alumni relations matters, as directed Job Duty attend bar association and professional affiliation events and activities, along with the Director and other faculty/staff members Job Duty establish, create, and coordinate pro bono events and activities for law students Job Duty maintain relationships with the legal community on issues related to access to justice Job Duty other duties as assigned Posting Detail Information
