Duties and Responsibilities
Housing Operations and Technology
- Lead, coordinate, and implement residence hall move-in and move-out processes, including scheduling of staff, volunteers, and campus partners.
- Coordinate and lead opening and closing operational tasks during semester and holiday breaks. This includes but is not limited to bed bunking and lofting requests, scheduling of professional moving staff, move-in routes and signage, moving cart distribution and storage, and distribution of recycling bins.
- Manage residence hall damage billing process, including oversight and training of hall staff in assessing damages, billing of damages to student accounts, and the appeals process.
- Develop and sustain liaison relationships with Information Technology, Purchasing, Campus Card Services, Student Complex, Campus Safety, and Facilities Maintenance and Housekeeping.
- Manage and coordinate residence hall security and key access.
- Manage and coordinate laundry services contract and laundry technology systems.
- Manage relations with external services providers (student storage, linen program and microfridge rental).
- Manage, track, and purchase departmental technology inventory. Serve as the department's data steward to ensure that department systems and technology usage is in compliance with university policy.
Staff Recruitment, Development, and Supervision
- Assist with recruitment, selection, training, and evaluation of professional and paraprofessional staff.
- Supervise the recruitment, selection, training, and evaluation of the Residence Life student crew and other central office work-study students.
Facilities
- Develop and maintain partnership with Facilities Administration and Campus Safety personnel to ensure safe, secure, and healthy living environment
- Provide support and direction to resident directors with custodial and maintenance issues. Act as point of escalation for student and parent custodial and maintenance concerns. Work closely with the Associate Director to troubleshoot issue before escalation.
- Provide direction for departmental sustainability initiatives, committee work, and end-of-year programs (e.g. Think Green and Give donation program).
- Provide support and coordination for residence hall facility-focused projects. Assist campus project management staff in the coordination of minor renovation projects.
- Monitor, track, and report ongoing or unresolved facility and custodial issues in the residence halls and escalate as appropriate for resolution.
- Coordinate and manage furniture repair, refurbishing and replacement for both student and staff units
- Maintain asset inventories for residence hall furnishings, appliances, and equipment; track storage inventory; make recommendations for replacement of furnishings based on condition and life cycle.
- Manage process of staff apartment maintenance, turnover, and furniture program.
- Assist with the identification, prioritization, and budget development for renovations to the residence halls.
Administration
- Schedule and coordinate twice-annual fire drills in all residence halls, including training of hall staff on procedure, mandatory Clery reporting with Campus Safety, and escalation of any follow-up regarding life-safety concerns.
- Participate in budgetary process to ensure efficient resources for operations, technology, and facility improvements are allocated and aligned with departmental mission and goals.
- Develop and maintain partnership with Summer Conference staff, including transition of residence hall buildings to Conference Services and tracking of condition, keys, and other use agreements.
- Provides emergency and crisis support after hours for weather-related or other issues that impact student rooms
- Manage residence life vehicle fleet (golf carts and pickup truck), to include vehicle maintenance, staff training compliance, and required registrations.
- Serve as a member of the Department of Residence Life central office management team and attend departmental meetings. Some evening and weekend work may be required in support of department processes and events.
- Assume such other duties as assigned by the Director and/or Associate Director of Residence Life.
Minimum Education and/or Work Experience
Bachelor's degree in related field and three to five years of experience in higher education research administration activities, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Qualifications
