Job Summary/Basic Function About This Role: The Assistant Director for Marketing and Promotions reports directly to the Associate Athletic Director for Marketing. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing and coordinating all marketing, promotions, fan engagement, and creative content for assigned programs within the Athletics Department. This position will work closely with various athletics department staff to ensure marketing content and initiatives are aligned with contractual obligations, fan engagement functions and best practices. What You’ll Do – Position Responsibilities: Creates and implements marketing strategies, community outreach initiatives and in-game promotional activities for assigned sports to increase fan engagement and game attendance. Subsequently evaluate the effectiveness of deployed strategies to recommend and implement changes as needed.
Responsible for the coordination of all in-game promotional activities, scripts, video and fixed content, and other event presentation channels to ensure a positive and engaging fan experience.
Interviews, train, evaluates, coaches, and offer professional development support for assigned student assistants, graduate assistants, and other temporary hourly personnel to meet department objectives.
Provide direct support to various external-facing areas within the athletic department to ensure contractual obligations related to creative content are met. This includes managing the social media calendar and responding to the needs of selecting sports. Additionally, duties may be assigned by the Associate Athletic Director for Marketing to address the broader marketing needs of the university.
Key Competencies: Experience working with creative content and design.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with various audiences.
Proven track record with building and maintaining positive professional relationships with donors, potential donors, alumni and other stakeholders.
Experience and success in finding innovative and creative opportunities to engage in multiple constituencies.
Ability to work with individuals from a wide range of backgrounds and promote a collaborative environment.
Physical Requirements: Sedentary, exerting up to 10 lbs. occasionally or negligible weights frequently.
