The incumbent in this position will be responsible for maintaining LSUHSC Division of Animal Care facilities located in New Orleans. Responsibilities will include coordinating the daily activities of laboratory animal technicians. The Animal Care facility houses laboratory animals used in research projects by LSUHSC faculty and must operate in compliance with all federal, state, and university mandates for animal welfare and husbandry.

Personnel Management - Has a lead role in all areas related to operational aspects of the department. Ensure that regulatory requirements are met, including proper staffing, quality control and assurance program, and AALAS certification requirements.
Project Management – Assist investigators and technicians with their specialized research needs. Provide input on construction/renovation plans, equipment selection, and plans to minimize the impact of construction on laboratory animals and investigators.
Facility Supplies and Record Keeping – Plan, coordinate, and monitor consumable inventory. Ensures order requests for supplies are correctly prepared and are submitted in a timely manner to the division’s business office.
Bachelor's degree in science or related field. Seven years of experience working with laboratory animals, supervision of staff, documentation of processes, and/or laboratory management. A bachelor's degree in an unrelated field will be considered with an additional 2 years directly related to animal care operations.
