The city is currently recruiting for Assistant Day Camp Director. Assistant Camp Director works to further the mission of the Camp Fife program through the planning and delivery of camp programs and staff training and assists in the management of overall camp operations at the direction of the Camp Director and the Events & Marketing Specialist.
Must maintain flexibility and be available to meet the coverage needs during camp. Hours of work may vary each week depending on need. Camp Fife operates Monday through Friday 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. The hours for this position will typically be 40 hours per week.
Salary: $20.00 - $22.00 Hourly

Job Description
ESSENTIAL DUTIES Assist the Camp Director with administration, communication and logistics before, during and after each camp session Assist with the supervision, training and development of Camp Counselors Supervise activities ensuring staff and youth participation occurs in a safe manner and environment Communicates feedback between participants, parents, staff and Camp Director Prepares documents such as letters, program evaluation forms, accident reports, daily logs, etc. Maintains compliance with all applicable City, County and State laws and City ordinances, policies and procedures at all times Perform minor maintenance/custodial duties Performs facility opening and closing responsibilities Other duties as assigned Qualifications
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience: High school graduate Must be at least 18 years of age at time of hire Organized and consistent At least one year of work in recreation, education or childcare with the focus on youth ages 6 to 12 Strong communication both written and verbal Valid CPR/First Aid/AED certification or the ability to obtain during the training week Successful completion of background check Possession and maintenance of current WA State Driver's License Ability to drive a vehicle including a 15-passenger shuttle van and maintain an acceptable driving record per city guidelines Knowledge of: Recreation programs, services and appropriate activities for youth (ages 6 to 12) Conflict-resolution strategies and how to properly utilize them Strategies to positively engage youth in a motivational manner Effective ways to lead and engage a team General first aid Legal and defensive driving practices Ability To: Interact effectively and professionally with a wide variety of participants and staff from diverse socio-economic, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds Respond calmly and appropriately to emergencies Explain and enforce facility and program guidelines, policies, and procedures Maintain a professional appearance and wear program uniform as required Show up with an enthusiastic and positive attitude Lead activities in art, sports, and games for youth (ages 6 to 12) Demonstrate effective problem-solving skills with City staff, general public, program participants and parents/guardians Communicate with the ability to understand and give verbal and written instructions in the English language Additional Information

Working Conditions: Indoor and outdoor work environment with a variety of weather conditions Constant interruptions Physical Abilities: Ability to carry up to 40 pounds. Bending at the waist, kneeling or crouching to assist program participants. Hearing and speaking to exchange information. Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate recreation equipment, computer keyboard, and other office equipment. Visual ability to identify and respond to environmental hazards Physical mobility and endurance to respond to emergencies or programs that may require hiking or traveling distances up to 1+ miles on trails or in wilderness areas Seeing, speaking, hearing, sitting or standing for extended periods
