Assistant Coach For Men And Women's Swimming And Diving
The Assistant Coach for Men and Women's Swimming and Diving is responsible for providing assistance and support for the conduct of a comprehensive, high-quality NCAA Division I men's and women's swimming programs, within the guidelines of all rules and policies established by the department, the institution, the NEC Conference, and the NCAA, in accordance with the academic standards, and the stated mission of Le Moyne College and the Athletic Department, including the advancement of its "Inside the L" shared culture.
This position will require daily and/or weekly duties and tasks as assigned by the head coach which require exercising discretion and independent judgment consisting of 75% instructional and 25% recruitment/administrative activities. This position will also serve as the Assistant Director of Aquatics.
Principal Duties and Essential Functions:
NCAA Compliance:
- Assist program in compliance with all applicable NCAA, conference, and institutional policies, rules and regulations.
- Assist with timely submission of all compliance related work flows through ARMS to maintain the highest levels of integrity and transparency.
- Maintain open and responsive communications with the Associate Director of Compliance.
- Maintain up to date certification in all required areas (NCAA DI Institute Modules, 1st Aid/CPR/AED Training, Etc).
Fiscal Management:
- Assist the Head Coach with the submission of budget requests, documentation, receipts, and related forms as assigned. These requests must be submitted promptly in accordance with existing College Wide policy.
Enrollment Management:
- Assist leading and supporting the College Enrollment Management priorities through partnership, participation, and meeting goals with Enrollment Management initiatives as assigned by head coach.
- Assist the department with its gender equity planning and the satisfaction of all Title IX legislation by striving to attain goals related to any applicable enrollment management initiatives within your particular program as assigned by head coach.
- Assist head coach with responding to all requests for information from prospective student-athletes, coaches, parents, and/or friends of prospective student-athletes.
- Assist head coach with solicit information from and distribute information to eligible prospective student-athletes and coaches and or parents or friends of prospective student-athletes.
- Assist head coach with developing and distributing appropriate recruiting materials, publications and information to interested prospective student-athletes.
- Assist head coach with maintaining accurate and comprehensive recruiting records of all prospective student athletes.
College and Department Service:
- It is expected that employees have a willingness and commitment to be broadly engaged and in service to the College as demonstrated through participation on committees and attendance at College functions/events.
- It is expected that employees participate with department committees, as elected or assigned, to develop, evaluate and enhance department policy. Attendance at all departmental meetings, unless excused in advance by the AVP for Athletics, is expected while a commitment to the College's priorities and the department's goals and objectives are vital to the success of the position.
Academic Support:
- Assist head coach with providing the appropriate academic support, assistance, motivation and environment for student-athletes.
- Become familiar with appropriate academic resource and assistance programs available to student-athletes.
- Assist head coach with monitoring the academic progress of your student-athletes from current class work to graduation.
- Understand current institutional academic standards and policies.
Game Management:
- Assist head coach with working with appropriate personnel to determine your needs for the organization, coordination, and scheduling of all home and away contests including: facility and equipment set-up, officials, scorekeepers, statisticians, media considerations, lodging, meals, travel arrangements, etc.
Swim Meet Management:
- Assist head coach with working with appropriate personnel to determine your needs for the organization, coordination, and scheduling of all home and away contests including: facility and equipment set-up, officials, timing table, statisticians, media considerations, lodging, meals, travel arrangements, etc.
Sports Performance:
- Submit all paperwork, schedule meetings and respond to all information requests from athletic trainers and team physicians according to guidelines and deadlines established by the Head Athletic Trainer as assigned by head coach.
- All decisions regarding the health and safety of student athletes when it comes to physical participation is at the discretion of the Head Athletic Trainer.
- Assist head coach with coordinating with Head Strength/Conditioning Coach on the conduct of a comprehensive training program to enhance both personal and performance growth/development.
Sports Information:
- Respond to all information requests and work with the media, etc. according to guidelines and deadlines established by the Assistant Athletic Director for Athletic Communications as assigned by head coach.
- Always inform the Assistant Athletic Director for Athletic Communications when you or any of your athletes has been contacted by the media.
Facility Management & Assistant Director of Aquatics:
- Ensure proper maintenance of the Ryan Aquatic Center
- Collaborate with Physical Plant for repairs and upkeep
- Follow all State and Local guidelines for monitoring of water quality
- Schedule and manage external rentals for pool use
- Communicate with Director of Aquatics issues that arise with facility
Fund Raising:
- Assist head coach with fund raising activities. Particular attention should be given to NCAA legislation surrounding booster groups and donors. Reconciliation of all revenues and deposits should be handled in accordance with institutional and departmental policy.
Community Service:
- A commitment to community services is an important tenant of the College's mission and to that end it is anticipated that employees will be involved in various community activities as a representative of the Le Moyne College Athletics Department.
- Assist head coach with identifying and cultivating a community partnership with a service-based organization to provide an impactful service experience for your student-athletes.
Professional Development:
- Opportunities to maintain and advance current understandings of techniques, strategies, theories, and regulations as they relate to the athletics industry are essential. Attendance and participation in conferences is strongly encouraged if assigned by head coach.
Supervisory Relationships:
- For purpose of performance evaluations and most other official duties, the first level of contact for the Assistant Coach is with the Head Coach. Appeals of decisions are to be taken to the Director of Athletics.
Functional Relationships/Secondary Sources:
- All coaches are expected to work cooperatively with all members of the Athletic Department (Administrators, Support Staff, Colleagues), and any other campus (admissions, housing, financial aid, maintenance, etc), or community office/agency that you might be involved with. Communications and required documentation should be handled in a timely manner.
Camps and Clinics:
- Work with Head Coach on camps and clinics throughout the year.
