Overview Asset Management Vice President/Director, Student Housing

Kayne Anderson Real Estate is a leading real estate investment firm, managing asset portfolios across opportunistic equity, core equity, and real estate debt, with sector expertise in medical office, seniors housing, off-campus student housing, multifamily housing, and self-storage. The position will oversee a portfolio of multifamily and student housing assets, which includes stabilized assets, repositioning, ground-up development, and/or redevelopment projects. The role reports to the Senior Managing Director and Managing Director of Asset Management, who oversees the Student Housing and Multifamily sector vertical. This position will be based in the firm's Chicago, Illinois or Boca Raton, Florida office. General Position Responsibilities Monitor and report on the financial and operating performance of various assets against business plans and original underwriting Travel to portfolio properties to assess the overall condition of the real estate, status of capital plans, the on-site property manager, joint-venture partner engagement, and market performance (travel approximately 2 days per week) Manage operating partner relationships; communicate with operating partners and other third parties; support growth of these relationships and represent Kayne Anderson Real Estate in the market Actively update revenue, expense, and overall strategy in real-time to maximize property level performance Track property-specific critical dates and deliverables such as tax management, annual audits, accounting deliverables, debt maturities and covenant compliance, development/construction issues, and leasing targets and timing Provide significant property-level engagement and guidance to property management teams Engage in property branding, programming, lease-up strategy, and management of marketing firms in conjunction with the management company and/or JV partner Drive asset performance through refinancing, renovations, and redevelopments Supervise development and renovation projects with support from the internal construction management department and operating partners Coordinate internal processes across disciplines (legal, accounting, construction, capital markets) to ensure execution of the business plan Work with underwriting and acquisition teams in evaluating potential investments Track industry trends and adjust property business plans as necessary Leverage industry relationships to evaluate markets, identify solutions to challenges, and deliver creative strategies for properties Active participation in industry organizations and events Requirements Minimum of 7 years of relevant real estate asset management experience, including 5 or more years in student housing real estate asset management Strong operational skills; a hands-on member of the Asset Management team Experience with operating platforms, operating partners, and negotiating third-party contracts Strategic perspective with experience developing investment strategies and strong execution capabilities Strong financial, analytical, and computer skills with proficiency in Excel; experience with asset management platforms helpful but not required Sound judgment to identify relevant questions and important issues Self-motivated with the ability to make independent decisions within group goals and policies Genuine desire to excel and passion for the role Interest in working with the Kayne team and leveraging external resources to achieve exceptional results Benefits Competitive medical, dental, and vision insurance Flexible spending accounts (dependent care, healthcare, limited purpose FSA) Accident and Critical Illness insurance Long Term Disability insurance Competitive 401(k) benefits Pet healthcare savings program Member's Only Healthcare - healthcare navigation WellHub - corporate wellness platform $10,000 lifetime reimbursement for family forming services (e.g. IVF, adoption, surrogacy) Rocket Lawyer legal benefits Reimbursement of professional society memberships and exam fees Up to $10,000 matching annually for contributions to qualified non-for-profit organizations Parental leave Compensation: base salary range for this position is $100,000-$300,000 annually, plus discretionary bonus, depending on experience and qualifications Employment with the company is contingent on the applicant being able to provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States at the time of hire.
