Brief Description of the Position Reporting to the City Manager, the Arts and Recreation Director oversees a department budget of $20 million for FY26 and is supported by 53.75 FTE. The ideal candidate will bring a strong commitment to both the arts and recreation and approach their work with enthusiasm, creativity, and strategic vision. This highly visible leader will be attentive and responsive to staff and stakeholders. High emotional intelligence is a must, as is maintaining an inclusive and equitable lens in all aspects of leadership. Retirement Program - CalPERS 2% at 55 or 2% at 60 retirement plan OR for new employees hired after 1/1/2013 the benefit formula applicable under AB340 California Public Employees' Pension Reform Act of 2013 (PEPRA).

Voluntary 457 Deferred Compensation and Retirement Health Savings plans are available. The City participates in the Medicare Program but does not participate in Social Security or the State Disability program.
Paid Leave and Holidays - General Leave accrues at the rate of 20 days the first year and progresses to 32 days at twenty-five years of service. There are twelve paid holidays per year and one floating DEIB holiday per year. Employees are granted 96 hours per year in Professional/Management leave.
Dependent Care and Medical Spending Accounts - Available to eligible employees on a voluntary basis.
