Description Job Overview The Area Director of Finance is the financial leader of assigned hotels. Oversees all areas in finance, especially payroll, budgeting, forecasting, and relevant duties. Supporting multiple hotels requires excellent leadership skills and the ability to provide accurate and timely financial reports as requested by leadership and corporate. Implements internal control procedures that safeguard assets, leaders, and owners, and ensures compliance with Federal, State, and Local regulations. Responsibilities Supports multiple hotels in financial compliance, reporting, budgeting, and management. Assists in the operation of each department and special projects, identifying risks and presenting solutions to guide effective decision-making that benefits the hotels. Develops annual operating budgets, plans, and financial goals. Achieves budgeted revenues, costs, and profits through diligent accounting and expenditure controls. Sets quarterly priorities and objectives for department heads, including action plans and deadlines, and follows up to ensure successful implementation. Prepares monthly forecasts for staffing and costs, aligning business planning with sales and costs, and provides guidance to department heads. Reviews financial statements monthly to identify issues, ensure expenses align with plans, and plan for future business. Approves expenses in all departments and reviews major expenses regularly. Promotes staff morale and loyalty, reducing turnover. Communicates and develops staff, being visible and accessible according to the company's open-door policy. Attends monthly staff meetings when possible. Ensures all hotel management staff meet experience and knowledge requirements. Reviews cost controls and ensures adherence to protect assets. Reviews sales activities, room nights productivity, and group rates. Evaluates market mix and takes actions to increase business. Participates in sales efforts for key accounts, reviewing contracts, and engaging with sales staff and clients. Job Requirements Qualifications Education/Formal Training Four-year college degree (preferably in accounting) or equivalent education/experience. Experience Five to ten years of related employment, with hotel experience REQUIRED. Knowledge/Skills Knowledge of hotel accounting functions. Advanced knowledge of accounting, finance, and hospitality. Ability to analyze data and interpret information to draw conclusions. Skills in office management, bank reconciliations, federal and state reports, staff training, meeting participation, balance sheet analysis, journal entries, and financial closing processes.
