Are you a proven emergency services leader ready to make a significant impact in a high-volume, Magnet-recognized hospital? We are seeking an experienced Administrative Director of Emergency Services to oversee multiple emergency care sites and drive excellence in patient care, operational performance, and team leadership. This is a rare opportunity to join one of Houston's most respected health systems and lead a 52-bed Level II Trauma Emergency Department with two freestanding EDs serving more than 80,000 patients annually .
Key Responsibilities
Quality & Patient Safety
Drive a culture of accountability and continuous improvement, ensuring delivery of evidence-based, patient-centered care.
Oversee compliance with all legal, regulatory, and accreditation standards (Joint Commission, ANCC, Chest Pain Center, Stroke Center, etc.).
Lead patient throughput strategies, including capacity planning, flow optimization, and discharge planning .
Ensure consistency in clinical practice to improve quality outcomes and cost-effectiveness.
Patient Experience Champion initiatives to deliver exceptional patient satisfaction and service excellence .
Implement strategies and benchmarks to elevate the patient and family experience.
Partner with patient experience leaders to ensure best practices in customer service and compassionate care.
Leadership & Team Development Foster a culture of engagement, recognition, and professional growth.
Lead and mentor a team of 3 managers and nearly 150 FTEs , ensuring alignment with organizational mission and values.
Build and retain high-performing teams by providing coaching, development, and succession planning.
Strategic Growth & Innovation Collaborate with executives and physician leaders to expand service lines and introduce innovative care models.
Stay ahead of healthcare trends, reimbursement changes, and community needs to maintain a competitive edge .
Represent the hospital in the community and at professional events.
Financial Stewardship Manage a multimillion-dollar budget, ensuring financial sustainability while maintaining high-quality care.
Optimize labor management, productivity, and resource utilization.
Identify and execute cost-saving opportunities without compromising patient outcomes.
Qualifications 3+ years of recent acute care Emergency Department Director or Manager leadership experience (large ED or equivalent responsibility required).
Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
Proven ability to lead in high-volume, Level II Trauma settings .
Strong background in regulatory compliance, quality improvement, and patient safety initiatives.

Level II Trauma Center over 2,500 trauma patients annually (15% penetrating trauma)

Advanced Comprehensive Stroke Center
Emergency Department Overview: 52 beds in main ED + 2 freestanding EDs
Over 80,000 annual visits across all sites
Strong support structure, Admin Director reports to COO, with ER Director and 3 Managers reporting directly into this role
