Position: Accounting Director
Primary Function:
Oversee all accounting operations—including bookkeeping, client enrollment, strategy implementation, and service delivery—while leading team performance, ensuring timely execution, and driving efficiency and cross-functional collaboration.
Reports To: Chief Operating Officer (COO)
Employment Type: Full-Time
Location: In Office Preferred (Louisville, KY)
Schedule: 40 hours per week
Compensation: • $54,000 – $64,000 annual salary • 401(k) with 4% company match • Health, vision, and dental reimbursement • Phone reimbursement
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
• 100% of Deliverables Completed & Sent: All client deliverables (e.g., financial statements, reports, reconciliations) are completed and delivered on time. • 100% of New Clients Enrolled Within 2 Weeks: If client delays occur, the Director ensures escalation or offboarding procedures are followed correctly. • 100% of Client Tax Strategies Implemented: All client tax strategies are successfully implemented and documented. • All Clients Responded to Within 48 Hours: Maintain excellent communication response standards.
Responsibilities:
Service Management: • Oversee all client services, including bookkeeping, onboarding, and tax strategy execution. • Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and quality in all deliverables. • Coordinate with Strategic Account Reps (SARs) and Bookkeepers to manage communication and workflow. • Use tools like the CRM to maintain organized, efficient processes.
Client Services Oversight: • Manage the delivery and invoicing of additional paid client services. • Supervise SARs and ensure accurate delegation and follow-through.
Team Leadership: • Lead hiring, firing, performance reviews, and team development. • Facilitate and delegate department meetings as needed. • Provide training and mentorship to accounting team members.
Cross-Department Collaboration: • Attend weekly Power Meetings with the COO and Rise Meetings with other Directors. • Participate in quarterly performance reviews (preferably in person). • Serve as the main point of contact between Sales and Accounting for escalations and scope changes. • Work closely with the Tax & Strategy Director to ensure smooth handoffs and consistent client service.
Efficiency & Profitability: • Leverage technology, AI, and team resources to drive efficiency and profitability. • Regularly evaluate and improve operational processes.
Processes You’ll Manage: • Bookkeeping • AMA (Ask My Accountant) Check-Ins • LLC Setup & Registration • EIN Setup • Payroll / ADP • Monthly Invoicing • Client Enrollment (Bookkeeping) Note: Additional processes may be added as needed.
Required Qualifications:
• 5+ years of experience in accounting or bookkeeping, including 2+ years in a management or supervisory role • Proficiency in QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop • Experience with real estate bookkeeping, including managing property financials, rental income, and expense tracking • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines • Exceptional communication and leadership abilities • Experience using CRMs and workflow management tools (e.g., ClickUp, Monday.com, or similar)
Preferred Qualifications: • Experience in a fast-paced, remote team environment • Familiarity with tax strategy for small business owners and real estate investors • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience) • Experience implementing automation and efficiency tools within accounting teams
