The Director of Accounts Payable and Vendor Help oversees the strategic and operational management of the accounts payable function, ensuring timely and accurate processing of payments and compliance with financial policies. This role leads a team dedicated to onboarding vendors, resolving their inquiries, maintaining strong vendor data health, and optimizing accounts payable workflows. The director collaborates cross-functionally to drive process improvements and enhance system efficiencies.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Sets standards for quality of work, develops the department vision and drives continuous improvement and standardization across their team.
  • Responsible for shaping department culture and mentoring the development of future leaders in the accounting and finance areas.
  • Provides support to other departments as a subject matter expert.
  • Provides strategic expertise to support maintenance and improvements of internal systems.

Role Specific Accountabilities:

  • Oversees end-to-end accounts payable (AP) operations, ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant processing of invoices and payments.
  • Leads the vendor helpdesk team to resolve inquiries efficiently, maintain high service levels, and strengthen vendor relationships.
  • Develops and implements internal controls and audit procedures to mitigate risk and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Drives continuous improvement initiatives, including automation and system enhancements, to streamline AP workflows and reduce manual effort.
  • Collaborates with finance, procurement, and IT teams to align AP processes with organizational goals and support strategic decision-making.

Education, Experience, & Skill Requirements:

Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, MBA preferred

Experience:

  • 10+ years in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Experience preferred in the Energy industry
  • 7+ years experience as a Manager / Supervisor

Skills:

  • CPA preferred
  • Comprehensive knowledge of GAAP
  • Fundamental understanding of accounting and/or reporting systems
  • Strong leadership, business, financial, problem solving, and communication skills.
