Art Director / Product Designer (Freelance)

Employment Type: Freelance, Part-time (20-30 hours per week/onsite in Anoka)

Our retail client is seeking a creative and highly organized Art Director / Product Designer to provide part-time product development support. This freelance role is designed to help alleviate workload bottlenecks, address pinch points, and fill temporary gaps within our creative team. We’re looking for a unicorn: an exceptional Designer with strong Art Direction skills and a passion for translating ideas into compelling product concepts.

The Work

Transform loose strategic vision and high-level creative direction into innovative, production-ready product design concepts. Create multiple design solutions and iterate based on feedback from stakeholders. Prepare final art boards and assets for manufacturing, ensuring all deliverables meet DecoPac’s standards of quality and detail. Give and receive constructive feedback to refine concepts and drive projects forward.

The Skills

Proficient in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, with hands-on product design experience. Creative problem solver with the ability to generate multiple design concepts quickly. Strong attention to detail, including typography, layout, and light illustration work. Excellent organizational skills—capable of managing shifting priorities and working effectively in times of ambiguity. Demonstrated ability to give and receive feedback in a collaborative team environment. Resource management skills are a plus; ability to coordinate or lead freelance artists as needed. Clear communicator who thrives in cross-functional teams.
