23/24 SY Athletic Director (12-15 hours/week) Pay Competitive Location Oakland/California Employment type Part-Time Job Description Req#: 37730 REPORTS TO: Site Administrator Position Summary Education for Change is looking for dynamic and visionary school personnel who will engage students, families, and other members of our learning community to ensure high student engagement in athletics programming. The primary function of the Teacher on Special Assignment: Athletic Program is to manage and oversee the schools interscholastic athletic program. The TSA: Athletic Program knows how to successfully work in an urban school with a high English Learner and low-income population. Responsibilities: Administrative Duties Primary contact with Bay Area Charter School Athletic Conference (BACSAC) Attend regular BACSAC meetings Prepare master sports calendar Hire, release, and supervise coaching staff Maintain budget Maintain Latitude High School Athletics handbook Nurture relationships between all stakeholders, including addressing conflict Organize celebratory/recognition events for student-athletes Develop and support booster club Coordinate with afterschool program for necessary student-athlete supports Ancillary Coaching Duties Schedule games, matches, practices, and meets Secure facilities, referees, scorekeepers and other elements for games, meets, and practices Order and manage all equipment and uniforms Ensure each student-athlete meets eligibility requirements including medical documents, GPA minimums, and behavior expectations Provide necessary training and certification opportunities for coaches Report scores to BACSAC and Oakland Athletic League (OAL) Communicate with school staff regarding student-athlete schedules and departure times Promotion and Documentation Keep information current, including game results and student results, on the following websites: Maintain records of team and student-Athlete Results Maintain social media presence Oversee photography and video documentation of athletic activities Ensure that relevant photos and data is available to yearbook staff Required Qualifications: Relevant teaching experience Athletics, coaching or enrichment experience Strong Organizational skills Teaching Credential preferred EFC Core Values Connected- We continually work to build trusting relationships among students, families, staff, and the Oakland community at large.
