GSG is the go-to public affairs, communications, and research partner for companies, causes, and campaigns. We work with clients to build reputations, tackle big challenges, and win. This role is for an Elections Director for the Research practice to support the team from November 2025 through the 2026 election cycle. This is a mid-level research position focused on political and public affairs research, operating as a Project Lead responsible for managing all aspects of the research project and understanding larger client objectives.
Project Leads manage multiple assignments—projects, deliverables, client relationships, and proposals. The role includes training to work on all aspects of a project with the goal of overseeing an entry-level analysis later, while remaining accountable for final deliverables.
Responsibilities Manage qualitative and quantitative research projects from start to finish with full accountability for project success
Design and produce client-ready survey questionnaires and qualitative screens and guides requiring minimal edits from the account lead
Develop analyses of research projects, including written analyses and visual PowerPoint presentations requiring minimal edits from the account lead
Provide insights and strategy to clients with a strong strategic voice
Manage projects and client relationships independently with minimal oversight
Conduct moderate qualitative research engagements, including in-depth interviews, focus groups, and online discussion boards
Oversee and coordinate research projects, track project details, organize tasks, and maintain adherence to timelines
Oversee project fielding, review partials, provide edits, discuss weighting targets with the data team, and troubleshoot fielding issues
Train, manage, and oversee junior staff on project execution, with basic supervisory guidance
Lead the development of new business proposals, including producing, editing, and delivering presentations with senior staff oversight
Conceptualize and develop research designs and methodologies for new business to meet client objectives
Identify growth opportunities and provide recommendations to the team
Qualifications 6-8 years of experience in research with a focus on politics
Experience executing all stages of a research project—both quantitative and qualitative
Strong strategic and consulting voice
Strong presentation skills
Excellent project management and organizational skills with ability to juggle multiple projects
Experience with client-facing responsibilities, including leading client engagements (a plus)
Experience with in-depth interviews and moderating focus groups (a plus)
Excellent communication and writing skills
Strong analytical skills with ability to tell a story and provide actionable recommendations
Team player with ability to collaborate and maintain relationships
Ability to mentor, train, and manage entry-level employees
Attention to detail and experience catching mistakes
Experience or coursework with statistics and advanced quantitative methods (a plus)
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word)
Experience producing graphical representations of data
The base salary for this position is between $110,000 to $120,000, commensurate with experience. GSG provides a comprehensive benefits package including medical, vision, and dental insurance; paid parental leave; generous time off and holidays; 401k with employer match; and additional benefits.
