We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated Permanent VP of Accounting / Senior Director, Accounting to join our dynamic team in the construction industry. This critical role will oversee all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budget and forecast preparation, and development of internal control policies and procedures. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction accounting and a proven track record of strategic financial analysis and leadership.
Responsibilities:
Oversee and direct all aspects of the accounting functions of the organization including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, job cost accounting, and payroll.
Ensure the timely and accurate preparation of all financial reports, including internal management reports, annual audited financial statements, and tax returns.
Manage the year-end close process and coordinate the annual audit.
Oversee the management of project accounting for all construction projects, ensuring accurate and timely tracking of costs, progress billings, and recognition of revenue.
Review and approve all project-related contracts, change orders, and invoices.
Manage the preparation and submission of all lien waivers and ensure compliance with all contractual requirements.
Oversee the implementation and management of accounting software systems (Timberline, Viewpoint, Vista Viewpoint) and ensure the accuracy and integrity of all financial data.
Develop and implement effective internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable federal, state, and local regulatory laws and rules for financial and tax reporting.
Provide strategic financial analysis and leadership on decision-making issues affecting the company (i.e., growth, new markets, and evaluation of potential alliances, employee benefits, retirement plans, and investments).
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; Master’s degree or CPA preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior-level finance or accounting position, preferably in the construction industry.
Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Experience with year-end close, Ledger, Invoices, Timberline, Viewpoint, WIP, T&M, change orders, lien waivers, and Vista Viewpoint.
Strong analytical skills and experience interpreting a strategic vision into an operational model.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated leadership ability, team management, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work with a high level of integrity and accuracy.
Advanced knowledge of project-based accounting software.
Exceptional problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
